I know that ALL people can have body odor, but when I smell armpits on the subway, a crowded store, an office, or any other close-quarters space, it seems that an Indian person is usually responsible more often than any other ethnicity. Is it their diets? Do they not wear deodorant? Do they just have more active sweat glands than other ethnicities? As I mentioned in the thread title, this is a serious question that is NOT meant to be racist in any way... I'm just curious.

wearing deodorant is a sin in their religion so to mask the bad smell they put curry on their body/shower in curry. Some indians dont wear deodarant at all

terrible genetics make for a terrible odour.
but srs though i think its all the curry they consume, the fobs may not even wear deodrant which is probably another contributing factor.

They eat with their hands.. its just a different culture.. dealwithit
Also, white people smell like sour dairy stuff, according to other ethnicities(so ive heard), because of all the dairy products we eat.
I live with an indian brah and he doesnt smell bad tbh(lol). Maybe its because he eats alot of dairy stuff since he moved to my country. And he doesnt smell sweat.

its the curry (srs). i've stayed with a few different indian families and it has everything to do with the curry. the house smelled very strong. then I stayed with my friend whose parents were more americanized and the smell wasn't really noticeable.

No. It's the type of rice they eat. The Vietnamese are the same way. It's how they cook it. Can't stand the smell...

It has to be more than curry.
The brits love that stuff now and they don't have that odor.
When I was a chem major half the class was indian and it was very difficult to be in there on hot days.

genetics has nothing to do with it.
I'm indian but I'm 2nd generation American, born in the US. I can honestly say that I smell pretty damn good unless I've been working out or whatever. But that strong ass smell that you get from them is usually from eating wayyy too much spices and lack of hygene.
People in india dont have the luxury of hygene for the most part- the middle class shower about 3 times a week and its so ****ing hot there that your sweating in a few minutes anyway. I went to india this summer, people dont live there- they survive. its that mentality that gets them through school and all that- but in they process they neglect themselves. the human life is not valued there- there is no personal space, there is no hygene, I saw 2-3 dead people just lying in the streets, people went around them.[$]Disregard Females, Acquire Currency Crew [$]

Curry smell sticks to your clothes + a lot of people fail at hygiene. I'm Indian and I'm always told I smell good. None of my family is "smelly" because we're hygienic and take care of ourselves.
Dead people? Where the f**k did you go? It's not the sh*thole most people claim it out to be; there are tons of urbanized areas. My family in India definitely doesn't "survive" as you put it.

True story:
My GF and her family (100% white) were told they smelled like sh*t when they first arrived in South Korea. People wouldn't even get in the elevator with them. A month later after eating like local Koreans they had no issue at all because their bodies odor changed because of all the garlics they were eating every day.
Conclusion:
We smell too but we don't realize it. Same thing for Indians living in India.☆ ☆ QUEBEC CREW ☆ ☆

it is mostly due to poor hygiene. some of the ones from india don't wear deodorant, especially the old people. nobody has ever told me i smell bad and i eat a lot of indian food (but i take 1-2 showers a day). sometimes even the white people i sit next to in lecture even smell bad but it's definitely more common in indians.

I guess have to do with sweat glands as I spot here in MN would say 1/3 of Indians wear sandals in mid of MN winter. Of course they go from car to store but something must be off.

they actually dont, had Indian roomate and dude was super clean, didnt smell (tho he took 2-3 showers a day), and to be honest was the best roomate i ever had, only thing i hated was that he snored like motherfuking bear or whatnot, but earplugs helped with that. he also told me once that he hates how indian ppl smells and that if they would take showers 2-3 times a day nobody would feel it.
I always tell the truth, even when I lie.
