    question about book.

are the nsca and cscs books similar? I know that may sound like a dumb question but when I read the summary of both books they both seem similar.
So.... would it be possible to read cscs book and take the test on nsca?

They are the same book as far as I know. You use 'Essentials of Strength Training' in both the CPT and CSCS. Now, you can correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought there was only one book.

    Nsca/cscs

The NSCA stands for the National Strength and Conditioning association.
The "NSCA" isn't a certificate, it is the certifying organization.
They offer two 'training' certifications: a CPT, or Certified Personal Trainer; and a CSCS, or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
    They are not the same.
The CPT course and test is easier and geared towards strictly personal training. The course book is the NSCA Essentials Of Personal Training. This has chapters from the Strength and Conditioning book, but is not the same.
The CSCS course is more involved and is aimed more at people in the sports and athletic fields.

Then all that matters is what you want.
If you are looking for a job at a gym, find out the certifications they put value in.
If you are working for yourself, go with what you find helpful and can afford.
The bottom line with almost any of the certifications and classes out there is that they can't teach you experience!! Get in the gym and try out different training styles. Talk to everyone and believe no one!! You will find that everyone will have different opinions on every topic, but the science of training is always the same. So read as much as you can on actual studies and trials, and when you add in your personal experience, you will know more than almost any course can teach.
    Good Luck!
