2. Trust (know that Jesus is the Only Way to God and all other ways are not)

Then you had to make an animal sacrifice, but good luck atoning when Yahweh decided that the sacrifices the Israelites made were not worthy. Not to mention that there's no Temple, either. So how would people get their sins forgiven? God always demanded blood, Jesus gave it, problem solved again.

There's no substantive evidence to support this, but it is an interesting theory. If anything, I would think that John the Baptist was likely an Essene, but Jesus was raised in a standard Jewish home.
