Good stuff. I haven't played my electric in quite a few weeks now. I am going to be picking up an ESP LTD EC-500 or a Schecter C-1 Hellraiser in the next few weeks. I want something without a Floyd and my budget is constrained at the moment.
I played the Hellraiser a few weeks ago and it was nice for the $$$. My buddy has an ESP that I love so this is an option as well.
ESP:
or
Hellraiser
Anyone have any thoughts? I have a Kramer Nightswan now but the Floyd is giving me fits and it's been beat to **** over the years.Semper Fi

I just recently bought an acoustic guitar to learn on. Can someone recommend some good songs to learn with? No need to post the tab, I can find it.

Hey guys I have a little problem playing songs with chords. I can play the Chords:
A, Am, C, D, E, Em, F, G
The problem is even if the song is just using the D and G chord, the way I play it sounds completely different to what it should sound =\
There's something I'm not doing right, but I don't know what it is.
If someone can give me any help on that, it would be very helpful indeed. Any other tips would also be appreciated
EDIT: Also what's the point of learning scales? and the names of the scales? O.oLast edited by -Will-; 09-22-2007 at 09:09 PM.

You need to play the chords with a particular strumming pattern. Ie. Down, down, up, down, down.
You need to find that out.
As for scales, the pentatonic minor scale is the most important and basic scale there is. Go for learning that one first.

I went to Guitar Center and bought my first instructional DVD. Monster Guitar Method volume 1.
spent $30 but could have gotton it cheaper online, but whatever I wanted it now.
so far so good, seems to go in depth and has a lot of material. Almost a 3 hour dvd.
Has 5 volumes in total so you could theoretically go from beginner to expert, but having a live teacher is best, but this will do for now.

I would say the major scale is the most important in modern music. The pentatonic is probably the most popular and the easiest pattern to master but is also the most sonically limited. See Zakk Wylde for an example of the over use of the A Minor Pentatonic. My two cents, whatever they are worth.
Also easiet system of Chords to learn is CAGED, IMO.

Try going through the beginner's chord lesson here:
http://www.wholenote.com/default.asp?src=l&l=9&p=1
There's a midi file of each chord to let you know how they are supposed to sound.Semper Fi

I can play the chords alone and they sounds great, but when I try to play it with the lyrics and stuff it just sounds bad...
I also have another question...what's a fender and stratos-something?

Sounds like your tuning is incorrect. Find out what tuning the song you are trying to play is in and then tune your guitar to match.
Ahh the Strat...
