Today, I went for a 15 minute nature walk, before my run. It was the perfect warm up, mentally, as well as physically.
I wish it was easier to post pics to the journals, but I posted a pic of said nature, in my BSpace profile.
Cardio - 15 minutes, brisk warm up walk - then 45 minutes steady pace run. I haven't been timing myself, and I'm thinking of getting back to that soon. Sometimes, though, I just want to enjoy a run for what it is.
Some light lifting after -
Speed DL's
80x15
80x15
80x15
80x15
Kettlebell sumo pull:
30x20
30x20
30x20
30x20
*this was rough, sigh
Pendlay rows:
45x10
45x10
45x10
45x10
Total weight lifted = 9000 lbs (according to the BSpace tracker)
Thought for the week: Time really can change things, can change hearts, can change minds. Sometimes, we think a situation is doomed, but if we give it some time...a few days...a few months, things can get brighter. Whether it's fitness related, or professional...or even in your personal/social life, time can bring a lot of clarity to things, and heal a lot of wounds. Of course, we need to be working as time passes, but be patient with the process. Things always get better. Stay positive.

Went to bootcamp class today, and I'm thinking that this instructor who's filling in is trying to train us for the NFL. Like it's a football training camp. lol Today didn't go so well, I got through everything, but felt so fatigued, my legs were tired. I think maybe because I didn't sleep too great last night, not sure. But, it bummed me out.
40 minute circuit of bear crawls, frog jumps, lateral slides, broad jumps, jumping jacks, walking lunges, jumping squats, etc.
Tomorrow will be better. Going to lift tomorrow, 5x5 style I'm thinking. It's been a while.

50 minute run + some db lifting
Had a great run today, not sure if it's because I rested a lot last night or the weather...or both? But, went for a 50 minute run, didn't time myself, but I kept it faster than usual. It just felt right. Then, came home and with my adjustable db's - did lunges, squats and bicep curls.
Squats:
40x15
40x15
40x15
40x15
Bicep curls:
30x15
30x15
30x15
30x15
Lunges:
30x15
30x15
30x15
30x15
Push ups:
2 sets of 15
15 minutes of stretching
Time to go clothes shopping and meal prep later. Priorities. lol

You're right. Things do get better, especially if we get better, keep doing our work.
You're working some pretty high reps in your lifting. That's something else. Any joint issues with that high rep work?
I can't do boot camp training...I mean, I could...I just won't. Exercising in a cookie cutter set really gets under my skin...always the rebel.
And, yeah. The lack of ease with posting photos can take a hike. There are so many pictures that would be nice to share, but I can't access any of the hosts that will actually work on BB.com from work.
Hope you had a fun weekend!"Blessed be the Lord my rock, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle." - Psalm 144:1

It depends on how much running I may do for a given week, then it can impact me. It was why I had to let go of 5x5 Because I just couldn't keep all the balls in the air - 5x5 - circuit training + running. Something's gotta give, as they say. But, I really do miss 5x5, and thinking of following a modified version two days per week. I think it's a fun plan to gain strength, quickly.

I hope you are having a good start to your week, Marius. Thanks for stopping over.

After work today, went to boot camp class. Never did go to the gym to do the 5x5 workout I had in my mind. But, I do miss 5x5, and really think there has to be a way to modify it, so that it can fit in with my circuit training classes and running. Running will never take a back seat again, I just love it too much. But, for me to ''miss'' a lifting plan, 5x5 must be special. lol If you have never tried it, it really will get you strength gains, quickly...without injury. Such a good plan.
So, bootcamp was hard. Like really hard tonight. Just exercises I would never really think of doing on my own...like push ups using db's or moving planks, balancing on your palms? But, completed the 40 minute circuit of squats, lunges, planks, push ups, side and front lateral raises, bent over rows, etc...all using low to medium weights, because you rep for like 45 seconds, and then switch to the next exercise.
I would rather use something like this, than the DB's for push ups, since they wobble a little. But, we were doing rows with one arm when pushing up.
Good workout though, and just need to figure out some things with 5x5. I would love to get to a 275 lb DL, and only 5x5 will take me there.

Nice log you got going here. Will be following along. Weather is finally getting cooler where I am at, looking to get some runs in myself

Halloween run
After work, went for a 4.5 mile run, didn't time it, but I went at a pretty quick clip. It felt good, mainly because the temps have cooled down. Then, just stretched for about 15 minutes after.
I found this really fun Halloween mask/costume app today, and played around with some of them. Do I look scary?
Hope you had a happy Halloween!Last edited by whatevergirl; 10-31-2017 at 07:16 PM.

I hear you. Just this morning I was mulling over my goals vs. what I'm doing in my training right now. I want to drop another 15-20 pounds, but working on strength and fat loss (adding weight to the bar while running 3x per week) just isn't getting me where I want to be. Maybe complexes is what I need to go with for about six weeks and then reassess...
Aren't those called Renegade Rows when you combine the push up with a row? I did those quite a bit when I was doing body weight training way back when my focus was martial arts. They're awesome.
I wouldn't say scary, but I think that's a great pic. A little gangsta, a little death...LOL"Blessed be the Lord my rock, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle." - Psalm 144:1

Yea, it's finding that perfect balance that can be hard, especially when it's not like all we have to do all day is work out. But, I can devote two hours per day to this, but that said, 5x5 as I progressed in heavier weights (my one rep max for squat was 165) combined with running consistently, it hurt my hip flexors. That seemed to be the struggle, not the plan itself, but the progression that your body goes through on a power lifting type of plan. I ended up going to a circuit training class during the summer and loved it. Well, love/hate it lol And, I'm still doing that a few times per week. Those classes as you know, combine cardio with strength training, using mainly your body weight, so I've really developed different skills from going there, that just lifting wasn't going to do for me. But, I miss 5x5 and I tried to hang onto it along with the classes, and running, but I went down to two days per week, then lighter weights, then one day, etc. Once you have modified the plan so much that it ceases to be the plan anymore, you have to reassess. And so it goes this circular conversation in my mind, Marius. I'm glad you can relate about goals, but maybe goals are meant to always be tweaked?

Spin bike and some lifting
Spin bike for 40 minutes tonight followed by some lifting.
Goblet squats:
25x15
25x15
25x15
25x15
Tricep extensions:
12x12
12x12
12x12
12x12
12x12
Flat bench:
80x12
80x12
75x10
75x10
Nothing remotely makes sense with this lifting tonight lol But, I wanted to do something. I have to be cognizant of the fact that with the circuit training, there's a lot of body weight exercises, that are taxing when I go to those classes a few times per week, so to do a lot of lifting can be hard on recovery.
I'm going to add 5x5 back this weekend though, even if just for two days per week. I miss it, and I'll see what I can manage with the classes and running. And trying to just live a life, too!
Thought for the day - I've been thinking about the NYC terrorist attack, and how insane our world seems to be right now. It's hard to imagine that someone would feel motivated to do something so horrific. I'm reminded that life is really precious, and what we do every day ...matters. It's important to really enjoy every moment we have, because you just never know. <3

Finding the balance is key. I like that you change it up, sometimes I think that helps keep things fun and not falling into the same mundane thing everyday!
I hear you on the world today, it's crazy. One thing after another. You would think when tragedies like these happen people would see how precious life is, yet people still find ways to debate their political views and stir the pot."Who's the more foolish:The fool, or the fool who follows him?"

Hi Bane, like your new avi
I get bored easily, I guess, and then when you're bored, you fall out of the routine.
I hear you on the world today, it's crazy. One thing after another. You would think when tragedies like these happen people would see how precious life is, yet people still find ways to debate their political views and stir the pot.
lol Thanks for that! I kind of like that scary face app, too bad Halloween only comes once per year.
I have another one in my bodyspace from that app...looks clown-zombie-ish.
Appreciate your support in my journal!
It's such a great feeling to come into my journal and feel the love. Seriously! <3
Work is almost done. Pre-workout drink is done. I'm going to circuit training class tonight, feeling tired today so not sure how it may go.
