I too have major back issues, however, several years ago I stopped using a belt and concentrated on strengthening my core. My back problems have diminished considerably.
You say you're doing a power lifting routine, so I don't have much experience with that, but your reference to being prone to back injuries leads me to believe that you want the belt for injury prevention or to compensate for a weakness which I think is improper use of a belt.32 5'10" 180lbs 10%bf
