I know most people like to listen to music when they workout.My girlfriend can not workout with out music. I enjoy it but can workout without it.
Can you workout just as well without music?

I agree. To ignore all of the posers. When I work out with my buddy though, I don't have the ipod playing. It gets pretty intense when working out with a buddy just because we're yelling at each other to push beyond our limits. But, when I'm working out solo, I need to have the music playin. I prefer music for lifting as it gives me a kind of rythm. I can do without without any problems however. I absolutely need music for hard core cardio, keeps the boredom away...

I would rather have music...
I can workout without it but I would rather have my headphones on so I don't have to listen to the crap my gym plays... They play a lot of Ashley Simpson type garbage.
I also like to go to the gym sometimes when a game is on and do my cardio.
I was at the gym the night Barry Bonds broke the record. The game was on mute but if you have your headphones you can dial it in. I didn't have them but I watched it none the less. On the eliptical next to me was some teenage chick that was on her phone talking about he said she said **** and totally ruined the moment for me. She gave me a dirty look when I pumped my fist and said yeah in my guy sports voice.
I'll never forget that night.

I like music with a good steady rhythm to do abs. Nothing like trying to do 3 min worth of crunches and trying to keep up with the beat. Other exercises I don't need music for motivation.

I work out at home, so I listen to what I like. If I go to a gym and I am doing cardio, I listen to my ipod. Usually, I do not like the music the gyms play.
But I can't wear an Ipod while lifting weights.

gotta have music, but instrumental only...can't be bothered by lyrics. I'll usuaslly listen to jazz or classical. I love hard rock...but it is a major distraction to me when I'm lifting...I need to be relaxed.

It depends on how my workout is going. I listen to a lot of Heavy Metal when I work out. If I lose focus as far as concentration on my muscles I like to turn the music off and refocus. One of the benefits of working out at home.
