How many reps of 500# bench for a sub 200# weightlifter?

Hoping you guys can help me either solidify my assertion or, tell me I need to apologize to someone. An acquaintence boasted of performing (years ago) 10 reps of 500#s, while he weighed less than 200#s (190#s, actualy). Doesn't matter (to me)......clean or PED-aided. I find this to be a really outlandish claim. I (pure guess) estimated that there weren't 30 sub-200#ers in the country who could bench 500#s ONCE. But hey, if I'm wrong please educate me. I'll apologize if I need to.

It is extremely rare for someone under 200 lbs to bench even 1 rep of 500lbs, regardless of supplementation. (This is raw, without supportive equipment like a bench shirt or slingshot).
According to Openpowerlifting.com (The best compilation of powerlifting numbers) there are 135 men under 200lbs that have ever benched 500 or more. 99 of those men were in the 198lb class. So it's rare, but not impossible.
As for 10+ reps, I would find that suspect. There has only been one recorded person benching over 600lbs at 198 body weight. I would say you need at least a 600 bench to put up that many reps at 500.

Now I know guys who are 260 that could do a bunch of reps at 500, but that's a big jump from 200.

So I would say that if it's really important to be right, your odds are very high that you are right and your acquaintance is not remembering correctly (or just a liar).
