IMO, using substances beyond your early 20s is a major signal for issues the user is looking to mask.

Everyone should seek to put themselves in a head space where they don't look to substances to alter the reality they live in, and look for a partner with the same mindset. Not saying having an occasional drink or whatever is the end of the world if you conciously monitor intake and keep it low, but dropping acid in your late 20s, you got issues.
