LMAO
The Elder Scrolls 6 isn't releasing anytime soon, according to one insider. When Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls 6 back at E3 2018 it didn't announce a release date or even a release window. Over two years later, this hasn't changed. Bethesda hasn't said a single salient thing about the game. All it keeps saying is the game isn't releasing anytime soon, and according to one insider, that's because it really isn't releasing anytime soon.
Speaking about Bethesda, industry insider Tyler McVicker recently not only claimed that Fallout New Vegas 2 is in development, but that he doesn't expect The Elder Scrolls 6 until 2026 at the earliest. For those bad at math, that's five years away. Unfortunately, McVicker doesn't provide any additional details, but suggests Bethesda Game Studios is focused on Starfield right now, which itself is still a year or two away.
If this timetable is accurate, it would mean the PS5 and Xbox Series X generation will be nearly over by the time The Elder Scrolls 6 releases, assuming this generation is similar in length to the PS4 and Xbox One generation. If that sounds like a long wait, it's because it is. However, it's not nearly as long Fallout fans will supposedly need to wait for Fallout 5, which McVicker suggests won't be out until the 2030s.
Now it's worth noting it's unclear where scoop ends and speculation begins here. McVicker has proven to be a reliable source in the past, but because this isn't clear, be sure to take everything here with an extra grain of salt. In passing, I've heard late 2024 to late 2025 thrown around, but not only was this information not verifiable, but it was pre-pandemic.
At the moment of publishing, there's no official release date or release window for The Elder Scrolls 6. In fact, platforms beyond PC haven't been officially announced either, and it sounds like we won't be getting any of this salient information anytime soon.
So that's why they sold out to microsoft.
It's 2021 and they're not even hinting at a starfield release. We'll see another skyrim release before anything else...

I guess it would make sense that it would be pushed back that far considering that they probably fell back 2 years with regards to the schedule due to COVID and working remotely. I'm sure if COVID wasn't around it would have been a 2023 release or maybe even 2022. I just hope that they don't pull a CDProjectRed and totally failing to deliver on the expectation.

.... why is this surprising? 2025-2027 are what any reasonable person would estimate. They are in full swing development of a different game.
But I do think they made a mistake announcing it several years ago when it's certainly a few years away.
Also lol at use of "insider". Guess anybody is an insider as long as you just spout whatever. That being said, in this specific scenario, he has a good chance of ending up correct.
and I really doubt ES6 release date has anything to do with them selling (not "selling out" lmao" ) to MS.
All that being said, I'm skeptical of their future releases until they launch and plenty of reviews are out.-Engineering Crew

they spent 5 years between releases until elder scrolls online was released. Then they kept milking that indefinitely.
This isn't a new topic by any means and if getting a single game in a series every decade or more is your idea of entertainment, then I'd like you to invest in my gaming company.Boycott foodservice industry crew

Every 5ish years makes sense if it was only the elder scrolls that they were working on. But they have fallout 4 that came in 2015, and Starfield (probably coming in 2022 is my guess). Then they will pour more resources into ES6.
It's certainly a very long time between entries, I agree. And they should have never announced it that early. And I 'm waiting for reviews anyway. And I don't have to wait for entertainment, as there are plenty of other good games releasing every couple months. There is hardly ever a new metroid released, but that doesn't mean metroid is a scam or anything.Last edited by ScramFranklin; 03-04-2021 at 06:54 AM.

To put this in perspective, Skyrim was released 10 years ago (2011), so by the time ES6 comes out there would have been ~14 years or so between the releases. Crazy.
And Oblivion was released back in 2006, so it would be roughly around 20 years between that and ES6. I remember playing Oblivion like it was yesterday and it's crazy to think about the gaps in years it took to develop.*** Extreme OCD crew *** (brb bench press not parallel to the ceiling beams)

gave up on bethesda with the F76 debacle
fallout 3 will always be one of my favourite games though, the atmosphere was something special, couldn't get into new vegas though tried a few times, might need to again eventuallyElegant Japanese Girls Crew [Founder] [LTC] [大和撫子]

I've only played skyrim on PC. The music, the gameplay, the storyline - it was perfect. One of my favorite game.
For them to create an entirely new engine for something that doesn't require much change is a terrible idea.
The main advantage of building your own engine is the speed at which the game runs.
If anyone is to rebuild their own engine, it should be cod because of the player base and performance concerns.Last edited by tunafishha; 03-04-2021 at 05:45 PM.

I'm honestly okay with that.
The longer it takes for TES6 to come out, the better gaming hardware we'll see in PC's, and perhaps even better gaming consoles too, by the time it's out. Meaning they'll be completely revolutionizing the graphics and gameplay by the time it's available.
I remember 11/11/11 for Skyrim.
I expect 05/05/25 or whatever they come up with to be even more amazing due to advent of technology.i7-14700k
