Misc, reasons you don't believe

When my religious family asks why I don't believe, I say simple things like-

-I don't believe in fairy tales

-They're just stories to comfort the people in a time when they were uneducated

What're you reasons?

I don't act like a kent about it. I just divert the conversation.

Eh, I'm not really religious or spiritual.

All religion is man-made. Not saying that there couldn't be something related to a god or a higher power out there, but the idea that every religion thinks they're the "right one" is really off-putting, and is used as a way to divide us.

Even if there was a being the created the universe, and it could be objectively proven, there's still a big jump in saying:
. Human life was intended
. Humans have souls
. There is an afterlife
. There is an objective set of rules to follow
. The creator being is even aware of human life

Religion says that all of these things are true, but there's no reason why the existence of any of them necessarily means the existence of another.

Also, most people only follow a specific religion for cultural reasons. You may believe in a creator being, but you believe in christianity/ islam/ hinduism because that's the cultural one.

I just say, "Deities do not pay for my bills so I have to focus on myself for now".

Or, "I'm just not religious right now".

Talking about religion or politics to friends, family or coworkers is pointless. There's no reason to do it
