Apparently in his country, everyone's earnings are public record. So people found out and cried about it being unfair.
I have never watched a full video of his aside from this one, but I'm so fukkin jelly of him. legit 10/10 gf that he met before becoming rich, rich as fukk, easy ass job.

Never understood why people get mad either. Everybody had the chance during the early days of youtube and everybody still has a chance. Invest in the proper equipment, have a good personality, know how to market your brand and where to advertise your channel and anybody has a shot with some patience. He has a job like everybody else, i'm not sure how much he does personally but many youtubers spend several hours a day filming and editing. Not it's not back breaking work but it's still hours spent. I've seen quite a few videos over the years of Pewdiepie. It looks like half the time he's forcing himself to play stupid games and put on a stupid yelling persona because he knows that is what gets views.
At the end of the day nobody can say he did not work for his fame, obviously he is doing something right if so many people are dedicated fans.

People whining about his earnings are as stupid as the US female soccer team suggesting that women athletes should make the same money. It's entertainment and it's capitalism. If people watch/support/consume something the earnings go up. It's a simple fukin system. If people think they can make a living by providing better entertainment than him they are free to do so. Entertainers/athletes make what the market dictates they are worth. Are people so simple they don't understand that doctors/soldiers, etc. aren't paid less because some dictator deemed them less valuable.
