Yea they are great, but NOT the way my mother made them. She would put so much damn brown sugar and then cover them with freaking marshmallows that they just tasted like some awful mashed concoction that escaped a unicorns *******.
I thought for 30 years they were nasty until I tried them cooked properly. Now they are a regular for me.Obsession is a term the lazy use to describe the dedicated.

love me some sweet potatos, +real grassfed butter+ un soupçon of cinnamon
For some reason I always thought sweet potatos had a preferential glycemic value over regular potatos, so get em whenever I can. with a good cut of steak, grilled or even better, turkey. Dat deres some good eatin.

worrying about gi/sugar, not even once.
Baked, and then ate 2 pounds of sweet potatoes last night.
Topped with a little salt, 2 tablespoons of Kerrygold buter (nomnomnom) and then some maple syrup. Tasted like heaven, if heavens clouds were made out of pillowy sweet potato pancakes drizzled in butter and syrup.

same I bake up a huge batch of potatos every night. Red, sweet, gold, white, russet, etc... and eat them plain. If you have to add stuff to you're sweet potatos you're doing it wrong. I always bake mine on 400 for an hour to 1.5 hours and it makes it realy crispy on the outside but soft and mushy on the inside.

Baked mashed sweet potato with melted peanut butter over it and some cinnamon is one of the greatest food combinations ever. So amazing. Can't believe no ones mentioned that yet.

No 4 cups of sweet potato gives you 24g of sugar. There is nothing wrong with naturally occuring sugars. I consume 150g sugar minimum everyday to support my endurance running and weight lifting and I have noticed that I have more energy to workout. The recommended intake of sugar is bs and is aimed towards obese americans who get all their sugar content from proccesed crap like poptarts.
