Are you diabetic or have any other blood sugar issues?

If no, then go ahead and consume them as long as you reach all other targets for the day.

Yea they are great, but NOT the way my mother made them. She would put so much damn brown sugar and then cover them with freaking marshmallows that they just tasted like some awful mashed concoction that escaped a unicorns *******.

I thought for 30 years they were nasty until I tried them cooked properly. Now they are a regular for me.

    Blech...

Here is my secret, perfected sweet potato recipe.

    Bake the sweet potato, peel.
Add chipotle peppers, cut fine, and the adobo sauce.
    Add salt.
    Mash
    Eat.

    Tastes great, no extra carbs.

I prefer them over regular potatoes... they taste so good. Both potatoes have a good nutritional profile too.

You don't have to eat them if you don't like them though.

nearly ate 7 sweet potatoes? Well, so much for moderation. If they are like the sweet potatoes I buy, that would be over 1100 calories, not even talking about butter or sugar.

love me some sweet potatos, +real grassfed butter+ un soupçon of cinnamon

For some reason I always thought sweet potatos had a preferential glycemic value over regular potatos, so get em whenever I can. with a good cut of steak, grilled or even better, turkey. Dat deres some good eatin.

Meh, I prefer Yukon Golds, slathered in butter.

Mad respect for the nutrient density of sweet potatoes, though.

worrying about gi/sugar, not even once.

Baked, and then ate 2 pounds of sweet potatoes last night.

Topped with a little salt, 2 tablespoons of Kerrygold buter (nomnomnom) and then some maple syrup. Tasted like heaven, if heavens clouds were made out of pillowy sweet potato pancakes drizzled in butter and syrup.

same I bake up a huge batch of potatos every night. Red, sweet, gold, white, russet, etc... and eat them plain. If you have to add stuff to you're sweet potatos you're doing it wrong. I always bake mine on 400 for an hour to 1.5 hours and it makes it realy crispy on the outside but soft and mushy on the inside.

Baked mashed sweet potato with melted peanut butter over it and some cinnamon is one of the greatest food combinations ever. So amazing. Can't believe no ones mentioned that yet.

No 4 cups of sweet potato gives you 24g of sugar. There is nothing wrong with naturally occuring sugars. I consume 150g sugar minimum everyday to support my endurance running and weight lifting and I have noticed that I have more energy to workout. The recommended intake of sugar is bs and is aimed towards obese americans who get all their sugar content from proccesed crap like poptarts.

Exactly what I do. I love the juice that pours comes out of the sweet potato and makes a little lake on the tin foil when baking. When I take it out and taste the liquid from the sweet potato when it's fresh out of the oven it tastes like pure candy.
