I got my testosterone levels checked and I wasn't surprised at what I saw to be honest.
I know low caloric diets can fck up your hormones, and that was me. For a while, I was eating around 1000 calories and burning around 600 calories a day last year for a few months. I have has so much trouble gaining mass and strength. I can't concentrate, low confidence, fatigued, and don't like to socialize.
Please give me some advice on what to do.
Test Results: I am aware that levels should be checked in the morning. Got this done at around 1 but it's still abnormally low.
Testosterone, Total- 158 "Normal" Range- <1001ng/dL Strong range on paper to make it seem like anything below 1001 is "good"
Free testosterone- 21.9 "Normal" Range- 18.0- 111.0
I am aware that doctors can label it as "normal" even if it can negatively impact your health.
Cliffs:
Got test levels checked
Really Low, but "normal"(Check levels above)
Had history of low caloric diet
Lack of concentration, no confidence, fatigue, gyno, trouble gaining mass and strength.
Need some insight.
SRS thread is serious. I know there's hundreds of these threads. I know I should talk to my doctor or get an endocrinologist. I just want to know if any people have experienced this chit. Looking at all my friends lifting the same amount I am, and they've been lifting for like 1 month pisses me off.

Lol I don't think anyone knows to be honest. Or they're all sleeping. Schedule a visit with an endocrinologist if you're worried enough.
EDIT: I'm curious to see what my levels are now though haha.Last edited by Nike1920; 03-31-2013 at 12:56 AM.

OP, what exactly are you looking for here? The testosterone levels you posted are extremely low -- really, shockingly low for your age. I have never seen a lab that lists the range for testosterone as "< x," either. That is ridiculous, because it makes it impossible to diagnose low testosterone. What lab did your tests?
Anyway, I am in the same boat as you (though older). Fatigued all the time, don't like to socialize, can't concentrate, don't care about anything, low libido, extremely slow strength/muscle gains in the gym despite eating right and training right. Got my blood tested twice, in the morning, and my testosterone was low both times. At that point, I saw a urologist, and we are now working on fixing it. That's probably what you should do, too.
OP, check out the charts in this thread and compare your levels: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...3301793&page=1. Bring the charts to your doctor if you must. Your levels are below the measured average for an 85-100 y/o male.
Read this link, too: http://artofmanliness.com/2013/01/16...terone-levels/
Good luck.
EDIT: By the way, don't let the fact that your progress is not as good as the progress of others cause you to give up. Heavy lifting can help to increase testosterone, so, if you are doing it now but stop, your levels may go even lower than they currently are. Plus, you can still make progress -- it is just likely to take a lot more work.

Repped and we need to get rid of the doctors I go to. They've always been the laziest, careless chits of doctors since I remember. We are also going to send the results to an uncle that lives out of state so he can advice us on what to do. You know, you get used to feeling like chit, that it becomes normal.

OP have you got your prostate checked recently? Prostate cancer can cause low levels of testosterone. Srs.

On the off chance you're not the same guy who made this thread a month or so ago, I'll give you my insight: normal teen ranges (they vary from doc to doc, but these are ranges my endocrin used) are from ~350ng/dL to ~950ng/dL. You have low enough testosterone that an endocrinologist will consider putting you on TRT if you can pass a steroid test. They'll also want to do a genetic test to see if you've got a genetic disease that causes low test. Then, if they find something genetically wrong or if they find an issue with your pituitary/testes/hypothalamus, they'll consider putting you on TRT (testosterone replacement therapy) while they try to solve the original issue. If the original issue is unsolvable, you'll be on TRT for life. So if you hate needles, buckle up.
However, if you're using a family practice doctor, you'll most likely get TRT a lot more easily (I don't have any reasoning as to why this is so, this has simply been my experience). However, be prepared because family practice docs are more hesitant to prescribe ancillaries to ameliorate any side effects you may get because sides aren't very common at such a low dose of TRT and they're not convinced you need them. I, however, am extremely susceptible to gyno and it took all the silver tongueing (no homo) I could give in order to get ONE MEASLY BOTTLE of ancillaries. Hence, I'm probably stuck with my gyno until surgery.
/rant
Good luck and keep us informed.

You're 16 years old. You're not even fully developed yet. Forget about your levels, increase the fat in your diet, and check again in a decade. TRT isn't even an option at this point.

Well my thought was waiting until I'm a bit older to even consider any trt. My fat levels are high enough at 85-90 grams. I'll probably get a test done in a few months after I gain some more weight just to see if it goes up. I'm just pissed off because I know most kids my age have all been at atleast 300+.

Good post, except I quibble a bit with this part. AFAIK, the ranges that are used by the labs are not age-sensitive (see the links I gave earlier for discussion of this). The "normal" range is derived from ranges of results across the entire population. At least, this is usually the case (it has been for my results). So, while 350 is technically in the "normal" range, that range is typically derived from results including people who were 85+ years old. If you look at the charts of average testosterone levels instead (linked in an earlier post ITT), you find that the average testosterone for someone at the OP's age is near 700. OP's test is well below that, but so is 350. 350 probably should not be accepted as "normal" for a teen; it should be investigated further (particularly if it is causing other symptoms of Low T).
I think TRT should be the last option, so agree to that extent. There are other ways to increase testosterone aside from TRT.
lolwut. Your doctor probably doesn't have much experience dealing with testosterone. If he does, it's crazy that he thinks a T level of 151 in a 16 year-old indicates no need for further testing.

OP:
-I have done 2 cuts in my life, each of them lasted a couple months and consisted in eating 1500-1800 kcals a day while doing everyday cardio
-I think I have gyno, very possible but didn't got it checked
-I've been lifting for 2 years while eating in a surplus gained very little muscle, very little strength and much fat
In the near future I'm going to take a blood test...
Now I'm worried.
