theres a thread on md about the faces phil in particular makes when he poses, angry and worked up etc..
Anyways! Whats your guys' take on guys yelling during poses and making crazy faces etc? It is a competition but what defines 'taking it too far'?
the post:Does anyone notice that Phil Heath seems to have this attitude and make these serious, angry, war faces when he poses and competes. He pumps his fists, has this really serious face, and gets really amped up.......
This is not a combat sport buddy. There is nothing active about it. It is a beauty pageant for muscles lol. You are not gearing up to slam people, throw punches, tackle or take big hits, or complete any physically grueling task. Posing is tiresome but lasts like 10min tops during prejudging haha.....I have to admit i have ALWAYS found it comical when people on stage are pushing, trying to amp themselves up, grunting, yelling, screaming, or acting like there is ANYTHING fierce about posing on stage lol
Is this insecurity about something he might feel is not the most masculine and its an attempt to masculinize it a little lol

As if Phil is the only one who acts "pumped up" when he poses. *facepalm* I'll find you pics of dozens of current competitors doing the exact same thing.
Spike92 is 15.
^ place this in your sig to remind the world that Spike92 is indeed 15 and will never be anything other than 15.

I think its ok. Hes in the zone, if he can contract just a bit harder or pose a bit better because he has psyched him self up, then thats good for him. Or if the noise intimidates and throws someone else off, then thats another plus. Stepping passed the line.. Not cool. But if anyones ever competed its not the same looking in as it is being there. The lights are on you, your nervous, your can barely comprehend whats going on sometimes especially because your on no sleep and your dehydrated. Most of my shows I dont even know who I was compared to exactly or how many rounds I did. It takes footage or photos to piece it together. Its like playing football, you can look at people playing and say wtf why didnt he move, or do the play differently. When the nerves are going and the helmets on, you just see whats in front of you.

I thought you were referring to the line when you said ''man up [...]''
The faces he pulled do absolutely nothing but prove he was intimated by Kai.
Yet you can see when he ''toiser''(don't know the word in english), look up and down with lips in a kiss sort of way at Kai, he was trying to look more intimidating and as if Kai was nothing but a peanut.

It's not just during the Olympia he yells during a lot of poses in different contests. I think it's okay, it's obvious that with some guy screaming when he hits every pose its gonna throw you off . I'm not just so singling out Phil btw I know more than one guy does it

^ this. coming from someone that is/was a HUGE fan of phil. he got to meet phil at last years O and he even said himself, Phil was kinda a dick. He said phil came off very arrogant and wasn't that humble. he especially said this when it came down to kai and phil posing down at the O. he pretty much said what tim is saying here, he was a punk, was a dck on stage to kai and was acting dumb. kai on the other hand like many others saw, he was just REALLY tired and out of it. his source said that kai actually missed a meal because one of his friends had forgotten to wake him up at a specific time. pretty interesting stuff he was telling me but at the same time really cool because hes close with george farah and muscle meds.
