Seated leg extension: the editors of women's health are fuktards who have obviously never had knee problems. Listen up, you stupid biatches: you can't squat when your knees are hosed up. Leg extensions (and curls) are the most effective thing I've found to help my knees recooperate.

Someone give me some quarters to throw at those idiots.

Anytime I read "you must" or "you can't", I stop reading. Show by example, and if I like your results, I'll consider it.

I've had one surgery on knees and no problems every with leg extensions.
that being said...
A lot of people in the gym start their extensions with the toes behind the knee thinking they need that extra four inches of movement to really hit the quad. These are the people who are tearing up knees on this equipment.
train smart and safe and suddenly a lot of "dangerous" exercises become pretty benificialThe mind leads the body...get your head right and the body will follow

Leg extensions are a big no-no for me, and my ortho forbid me to do them. He told me to squat til the cows come home but avoid the leg extensions like the plague. Which makes sense since that's an odd movement and not at all how we lift or use our legs naturally. I added them in a few months ago when I was doing the QBM workout. My knees ached non-stop.

Every few months or so, someone posts an article about which exercises are "bad" for you. The only exercise I'd say to get rid of is the BTN pulldown (or press, even though it wasn't mentioned). Other than that, you'll get differing opinions on all of these exercises and more.
Personally, I was never a fan of leg extensions so for me, that's out. Hock, no quarters at me, please!"Don't call me Miss Kitty. Just...don't."--Catnip. Check out the Catnip Trilogy on Amazon.com

Exercising is bad! Everything you know about nutrition is wrong............
The latest articles state that sitting on your fat azz taking in the following 5 food groups,
Sugar
starch
fat
grease
alcohol
As long as you are taking in your daily allowance while doing nothing all day will help you as to avoid over extend those muscle groups.Eric

6. Roman Chair Back Extension
What it's supposed to do: Train spinal erectors. What it actually does: Repeatedly flexing the back while it's supporting weight places pressure on the spine and increases the risk of damaging your disks.
But as a warmup for DL's, or even something to throw in on a light day there's nothing wrong with extensions at all."Do you think SHE actually felt like that was a sexual thing he was doing? She's like 6. Only an actual p3do would think that she thought he was groping her, too."
"Not that it's impossible to touch a minor inappropriately, but it is true that a 6 year old girl will not recognize someone putting a hand on their chest as groping, whether it is inappropriate or not."

^^ This. Leg extensions hurt my knees like nothing else. With squats, you've got hamstring activation which helps stabilize the knee joint during the movement -- not so with leg extensions. I actually didn't think the article was as bad as people here are indicating -- I agree with much of what it says.
