    Wheat Grass

Ok. I've heard many excellent benefits from using this. What are your thoughts?

50 million cows can't be wrong!

I have heard the claims also. Much hype. I never bothered to look for peer reviewed studies on wheat grass. Like Marius said, just another green.

Why eat grass of any kind when you can eat kale.

^^^^This. Wheat grass contains lots of vitamins and minerals, but so does, say, spinach, as a comparison.

If you like it, go for it; it's certainly good for you. Just be aware that it doesn't have any special properties over other veggies.

Guys you do know you don't EAT the wheatgrass, right?

I used to grow it on a windowsill and juice it. It's a fun hobby.

The boost you get from it is amazing. Drink two dixie cups full and see what happens. I used to drink about a dixie cup a day in the morning with my OJ.

The taste is awful according to some. Also you burp up the taste for a while too. Personally I like the taste, but I am in a small minority.

Interesting fact: Chlorophyll and blood are chemically very similar. Which makes sense, since chlorophyll is essentially "plant blood".

You can eat wheat grass if you want to. It's not poisonous.

The flavor of the juice is citrusy with a hint of...well...grass. I like it a lot.

How well does it juice in your average juicer? I heard you need a special juicer just for wheat grass, is that true or not? Thanks

I will have to look into this, since I was thinking about doing it again, but got rid of my juicer. I'm not sure about the juicers you find in Target/Walmart, never used one.

My juicer was a "special juicer", it was a heavy as a vise cast iron deal with a crank. The grass does tend to bind up into rope, perhaps cutting it into smaller pieces would help.
