My metabolism is akin to speedy Gonzalez, and I have a hard time eating enough to beat it, so would getting cals from weight gainer be a good idea? I'm a little worried as I have no idea what is in it, and I'd rather avoid eating 2k cals of something bad for me.

Ive tried a couple weight gainers and all seem to be to no avail. The only way they work is if you can down them like crazy and intake like 1.5k+ worth. Brown rice, eggs, and beef are much much better options. Real food beats a weight gainer any day brah!

The best thing to do is go out buy some whole milk, oats and some protein, you can also throw in a banna or even some ice cream. Its a lot cheaper than buying weight gainer in a tub.

I actually did get some oats last week to try and get some good carbs and cals but these things are hard as hell to get down my throat. This is just straight oats+milk, and when I tried cooking it, the oats+milk tasted like something had gone horribly wrong and had the most disgusting aftertaste I've ever had.
Any tips for that? I can get through like 3/4th cup of oats but when it comes to those last few bites I nearly gag.~ "Go back a little to leap further."

Weight gainers are generally made up of protein and some sort of sugar (generally malto). It's not too different from taking a protein powder and dumping in 50-100 grams of table sugar into it.
This is actually not as bad for fitness minded people as it may sound. People who work out process sugars quite well generally. But the calories are completely empty and have no nutritional value whatsoever.
You'd be much better off making a homemade gainer with protein powder oats/fruits/pb/etc.
You can also just eat more bread, pasta, rice, etc. My favorite "gainer" when bulking is french bread dipped in olive oil, garlic and spices. A bit healthier than the worthless carbs added to gainers.Latest Reviews:

In my opinion, alot better (healthier) than any gainer you can buy.
Home Made Gainer:
1.5 cups whole milk
1 cup oats
1 scoop protein
1 banana
1/2 cup fat free yogurt (greek)
1-2 TBSP Natural Peanut Butter
Throw a couple of these in your diet each day and I bet you'll pack on some extra pounds. ;-)I would rather have a German division in front of me than a French division behind me.

I don't know why but I read that as "1 scoop banana" and probably for about a minute was contemplating what exactly constituted as a scoop of banana... lol I'll definitely give that a shot, but like my biggest problem, will I have trouble downing that? Or does it actually taste decent... It does have a good bit of things I like, but I just don't know how that will react with the oats.
