I just can't gain weight. I'm sure some day I'll be able to, but not at this point in my life. I know what I have to do, what I have to eat, how to train, etc. but they say that results breeds motivation, and I have not gained a pound over the past 3 years.
Yup I lift heavy and eat a lot throughout the day. I am not going to stop training this way because I enjoy being strong, but I've decided to take my training in a different direction. Perhaps this is just more of a mental change, but I feel that this is still a nutrition topic.
I feel that I have been neglecting the other aspects of fitness, namely flexibility and balance. So I've been working on doing the splits, a pistol (one legged squat), definitely my shoulder flexibility- terrible, and start doing handstands again. I used to be able to walk on my hands.
Does anybody else feel like this? Sometimes I feel like I've spent so much time just focusing on bulking, and at this point I just need to keep my gains, focus on other aspects, and come back to it in the future.

You could try eating whatever you are now to gain weight, and just add calorie-dense foods that you like. You could add whole milk, pb, or whatever you can eat lots of. What about making some tasty shakes? Milk + pb + banana + chocolate syrup + ice cream + whatever. You could add a ton of cals with extra shakes.

Get fat in. Put butter on everything where it makes sense. Eat tons of whole grain carbs too. Heck, try Fettuccine Alfredo with a piece of veal and add some butter on top of the pasta. Eating a ton of pasta should help you put on weight pretty quick.
Eat tons of Peanut Butter too, and drink whole fat milk.

You can always resort to weight gainers (the powdered stuff), though I'm not a big fan of those.
Short term Goal: To cut back before bulking like a demon.
Mid term Goal: To find myself.
Long term Goal: To get what's mine.
67 lbs in 9 years and still counting... (started at 100lbs)
It's a hater's job to hate. So let them hate...

What is your total calorie intake now (be precise & honest)?
Starting at maintenence + 500, Weigh yourself each week with the goal to gain .5lb to 1lb per week. If you are not hitting atleast .5lb per week, then up your calories by 100 every two weeks until you are gaining the .5lb or 1lb goals.
Eat BIG, Eat Smart, and lift HEAVY.
The results will come after some trial and error. STICK WITH IT!! dont give up you'll just see-saw and regret it.Eat like a beast. Train like a freak. Sleep like a queen.

Bulking is so easy, I don't know how people have trouble.
Try eating your meals faster. You will be able to eat more and you're body won't process that you are physically full.
Oats and PB with your shakes.
Natural PB is a great bulking food, whole eggs, almonds, pasta . . . pack on calories.
Are you eating "too clean"?
I wouldn't listen to some of these people who say "eat ice cream", "put butter on everything", etc. You don't need to go this route. My AAEFX Log

1. Whole Milk - have at least one glass with each meal.
2. Quite cutting back after big meals or big eating days. Most of us skinny guys will realize we eat big and then cut back over the next day or 2 and hence it still balances out.
3. I don't bulk well with too much fat. I like to add dark amber grade A maple syrup to stuff.
4. Dark Chocolate is a good saturated fat, as is cocnut oil. Throw some of that in as well as peanut butter.
5. Grits, Capn Crunch, Apple Jacks, etc, with whole milk
6. Bagels - eat the crap out of these thingsThe One Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=115145911

^ what good is all of this if you can't put any of it to use for yourself.
Eat more Eat more Eat more and possibly Eat more.
Perhaps your training program does in fact need a change as well.
You've said you've trained heavy, but could you break down a sample work out with reps/awra and rest intervals.
How many calories do you eat at the moment, perhaps you could break that down a bit more as well.
Have you talked to the doctor to find out if there are any medical reasons behind your limits of weight gain. Maybe the all famous thyroid?

Right, I know exactly what I need to do. Have any of you heard of the Vermont Prision Overfeeding Study? Some people just can't gain weight. The myth that anybody can get as big as they want to at any time in their life is just a myth. I've been eating a ****-ton of food, eating cupcakes w/ cream cheese frosting- I polished off 23 over a weekend on top of the other food that I eat, and I drink a beer or 2 every day... My dad only eats half as much as I do and he is obese!
Yeah, the thyroid checks out fine.
