My G.P has prescribed me carbamazepine for my back, shoulder and neck pain and to help me sleep at night. Anyone used this stuff before for the same or similar reasons.

I have tried codeine which i am allergic to and ******** which does not agree with me. He tried me with quine bisulphate to help relax the muscles but it did not do anything which i expected anyway. I have tried a number of differen't nsaid which only help a little but once stopped eveything just returns to normal. I can't think of the names of others as iv'e had so many differen't types in the past.
Do you know of any that could help?He who dies biggest.. WINS!

The general way of approaching pain management is: (starting at 1, then moving onward)
1) paracetamol/acetaminophen
2) #1 + codeine
3) #2 + stronger opiate (or ********) ** a couple of attempts can be made at this step by varying the opiate
4) #3 + adjunct
* NSAIDs can be added to any
So you can see it is a pyramid in terms of medications used. It isn't "try this, if it works scrap it and try that instead", it's "try this, if it doesn't work add that". "Adjunct" can refer to things like antidepressants (at sub-antidepressant dosages), anticonvulsants (like carbamazepine), muscle relaxants, gabapentin/pregabalin.My journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=7069091

Iv'e tried paracetamol combined with a nsaid first and it only helped a little but the problem returned once i stopped using them. Like i said, i am allergic to codeine and ******** casues palpatation's. I uses naproxen at a dosage of 1500mg for 2 months before. I have had gabapentin in the past aswell.
The problems i have has been going on for 5 years now so treatment has become a problem. He who dies biggest.. WINS!

Carbamazepine certainly wouldn't be my choice of drugs to treat pain, but then I don't know your situation fully.
Generally people on carbamazepine don't experience any trouble. If you suddenly come up in a nasty rash, go and see your doctor immediately. Also, make sure you are getting your regular screening blood tests as carbamazepine can cause agranulocytosis. The first rule of cheat club is you do not talk about cheat club. The second rule of cheat club is you DO NOT talk about cheat club. Third rule of cheat cub, someone yells stop!, goes limp, taps out, the cheat is over. Fourth rule, one cheat at a time, fellas. Fifth rule, cheats will go on as long as they have to. And the sixth and final rule, if this is your first night at cheat club, you have to cheat.
