thats a helluva lotta fat for breakfast. if you can't stomach it, eat less food. at the least i'd drop the almonds and save them for later in the day. eating a bulk of your calories in the morning leaves you more time to get hungry and go over your limit for the day. at the same time, eating too little for breakfast can make you more hungry throughout the day. you need to find a balance that your body can stomach.

I'd say that's close to 600+ calories. Consume half that and just eat through the day if you have trouble eating all of that.

Just another quick tip ... not generally a good idea to have carbs and fats together in the same meal. You can have carbs and proteins or fats and proteins, but I'd stay away from carbs and fats together. The reason is that both serve as energy sources for your body, and if you eat them together, the body cannot assimilate all of the energy at once ... so something is going to get stored as fat. I try to keep my fats (almonds, sunflower seeds, peanut butter, etc.) in with my protein shakes during the day, rather than with my whole food meals.

According to Derek Charlebois in the Lifestyle Cut Diet, it's actually best to combine fats with carbs, and he recommends eating some kind of healthy fat with all carbohydrate meals. Here is an exact quote:
"We also always include fat with our meals. When
you eat fat with any meal, especially one containing
carbohydrates, it reduces gastric emptying and allows your
body release insulin at a much slower and steady rate than
eating carbohydrates alone."
He goes on to say:
"-Eat good fat with every meal, especially
carbohydrate meals.
-Do not combine carbohydrates and protein alone,
this elicits the highest insulin response. For example, a cup of
oatmeal has a moderate insulin response but when you
combine oatmeal with whey protein, you get a much higher
response. If you do combine these, be sure to add a fat source."
But hey, if it works for you, keep doing what you're doing. I think everyone's body works a little differently, and the key is finding the strategy that works for you.Last edited by SmellsLikeTrout; 03-26-2009 at 10:15 AM.
