So I was over at my friends house the other day and we were making plans for the city or possible fishing for Thursday/Friday. We decided to invite his younger brother since we thought it might be a nice gesture to take him out if we go fishing. My friend never really talks to his younger brother that much due to a huge age difference (friend is 27 brother is 12 going on 13). So we go into his room and ask him what he's doing this Friday. He's not much of a talker or like much 13 years olds, he is really quite and to himself. Anyways we're talking to him and he keeps looking out his window as though he is spacing out. He walks over to the window grabs a cat that was sitting outside the window, dragged it into the room, grabbed a knife and started to stab the **** out of the cat. I was like wtf! so was his brother. We were in such shock we were frozen in disbelief for about 20 seconds. Mean time he's going to town on this fuking cat. I run and push him off the cat he looks up at me with the knife and says, "why the fuk did you push me". The cat is bleeding all over the freaking place and my friend is flipping out. This little bastard then grabs the cat and throws it back outside his window! He then turns to us and was like, "that cat is always steering at me and blocking my view!" I then tell him that's fuked up what he did (I was seriously freaked out at this point because he was completely calm as if his hands wasn't covered in blood and didn't just stab the **** out of a cat) He then says to us, "Oh what do you guys have planned for friday!", me and his brother was like, "nothing we just wanted to see what you were up to." His brother just looked at us and was like, "ok" then gave us this look as if he wanted us to leave the room. Me and his brother have been worried about him since, my question is should we take him to counseling or is this normal behavior?

not sure...when we went out back to see where it was it wasn't there. This is also in New York, we don't have backyards in the city, the cat was on the 2nd floor. When we asked the dad he said that cat always came around because the mom used to feed it and leave food out for it by the fire escape (the brothers window).

NORMAL BEHAVIOR??? That is the most fuc*ed up thing I have ever heard - reading that story sent chills up my spine. I think YOU need psychiatric help just after what you WITNESSED... not to mention the kid. That is not normal behavior for a thirteen year old. What disturbs me about that story is the child shows no remorse for his actions, as if stabbing a cat is just NORMAL - this is evidence of his inability to empathize with other beings (a trait of a serial killer). What is also disturbing to me, is the child's explination of the killing - "He is always starring at me and blocking my view". Sounds to me like he might have a little paranoid schitzophrenia in him too.
You are not a responsible citizen or adult if you don't contact a professional about this. A good place to go would be his school - not only do schools have access to professional psychologists, but also the local police. This kid needs some serious help immediately before he hurts another animal, or even worse a person. By telling the school, you can at least bring attention to the fact that he MAY be a threat to others (and possibly put him on a "watch" list).
I dont suggest you talk this over with his brother, obviously he dosent want to get his younger sibling in trouble. You need to do what YOU think is right. Psycopathy will only get worse with age - this child needs help now.

Good luck, do the right thing
