FAT GRIP BAR 2 1/2" vs. 3" thick

What is the best way to decide weather to get the 2 1/2'" or 3" thick Fat Bar from New York Barbells. I was told from a rep. at New York Barbells it has something to do with how far you can grip a certain area of the bar. Can anyone explain better than they did. Any help is appreciated.

How big are your hands (from top wrist crease to tip of middle finger using a hard tape measure not soft)? WHat will you be using it for? I'm somewhat of a relative grip strength expert so I can help you here. A 2" one would probably be better unless you have huge hands or something, but it depends.

For general all around use, I'd start out with a 2" or 2 1/2" bar, leaning more towards the 2" bar, unless your hands are larger than usual, and then progress to the 3" bar after that.

IMO, a 3" thick bar is useless UNLESS you have larger than normal hand size.

Stick with the 2" or 2 1/2" and you won't go wrong.
