I dont by choice so that I can play in college, but I know some other teams in my area were giving $65 a game up to $150. Now in our league there is an arena team that plays semi-pro during the off season, and their players were making $250, but thats just in my area. It could be different somewhere else.

Benton Bulldawgs from Corvallis, OR of the NNFL (National Nineman Football League, plays in the spring)

Were going to be the Bucs before the '08 season started but changed it. Played for the Springfield Gladiators first half of season, finished as a Bulldawg. Made the playoffs, played in the 3rd place game before the championship and got 4th in the league. Our tryouts are Oct. 25th for the '09 season, going to play DE or LB depending on what we need me at most after the team gets decided. Offensively some FB and TE. Currently doing the University of Florida Football Strength and Conditioning Program to get ready for the season.

What would you semi-pro guys suggest for someone who is looking to play semi-pro ball (i.e. whats different than high school ball, what should i expect)? How do you go about getting on a team? The team in my town has a website, but has no tryout info posted.
What would be some average stats for a semi-pro linebacker?

It's a lot less organized than HS. A couple practices a week, with poor turn out. It's sloppier than HS, but everyone has their man strength so the hits are harder and whatnot. On the team's website they must have a phone number of a coach, or at least a team e-mail address. Tell them you're interested and ask if they have a tryout coming up. Most coaches would love to hear from you because everyone playing semi pro is in it because they love playing football. As for average stats, it's impossible to say. There are many different levels of teams, some have rosters full of ex-college players, others have rosters full of college age kids. Stats shouldn't matter, just show up to tryouts/practice and see if you can hang.

As far as the stats dont worry. I am 5'8 186 and play outside linebacker in semi-pro but will play corner in college. It is less organized then all other levels since most of the players have jobs and such, but the hits are harder and the players are better. Down where I live semi-pro is taken very serious, and the rosters are filled with ex-college players. We had 3 former SEC players and 2 guys who went to the NFL combine on our team this year. Also 5 of our players were picked up by an arena team so its good down here.
