Sounds like some people in this thread need to google myofascial release and learn what it is, what it does, and how to do it correctly. If it doesn't do anything or if it doesn't make you sore you're not doing it right. When muscles are overused the fascia can begin to become adhered to the muscle, which limits nutrient delivery and mobility to the affected area. Foam rolling, lacrosse ball, etc. are used to break up this restriction.

Whatever floats your boat. But when it comes to mobility its a three pronged approach and you're only hitting one of them. Stretching elongates the muscle, foam rolling releases the fascia from the muscle, and trigger point releases knots in the muscle. I foam roll twice a day and all of the nagging aches and pains I used to have are now completely gone and I never have any issues with mobility or proper positioning.
