My bold prediction of the year. If Stafford and Calvin play 16 games, this WILL happen. No running game and a bad secondary puts a lot of pressure on Stafford and the Lions offense to go to the air. Calvin can not be covered by any player, or any two players at the same time.
2000/16= 125 yards a game.
Stafford threw for over 5000 yards this past season.
Calvin Johnson had over 200 yards receiving in 3 of his last 4 games this past season.
We will talk about him already as one of the greatest players to have ever played the game at seasons end at only 27 years old.

If those guys are considered "weapons", then many coaches & fans alike will agree that they'd rather have 1 of those guys beat them than Megatron.
Titus Young can give his best Wes Welker impersonation, he can get those 3-4 yards instead of letting Calvin Johnson get you a 40+ yard catch over the top of the defense.A paradox.

I like Pettigrew. But Young and Broyles are still young and still have a lot to prove on the field. And Burleson has already seen his better days. I wouldn't say any of those three guys has solidified themselves as a legit bonafied stud number two threat in this stage of their careers.
Megatron is going to help them more than they will help him.

lol, so many people in this thread don't think he can even be close... Holy crap, some of you are very close minded and not very analytical.
Well, I will bump this thread at the end of the season after I go full-wizard
Disclaimer: If Calvin or Stafford miss time, disregard this thread. However, I'll say the same thing the following year. As long as both are healthy for 16 games, Calvin has a very realistic opportunity of putting up 2000 yards for the next few seasons.355 Bench

Calvin is a beast. He's one of the players I just knew coming out of college would dominate. The guy is a freak, to be as tall and big as he his with track speed.
I dont think he'll break 2000 yards but I say he'll defiantly have the most receiving yards in a season before he's done★☆★ Full-Time Philadelphia Eagles Fan ★☆★

This.
in b4 a 100 catch 1100 yard season by Titus Young.
My god, you'd think a coach would have to be retarded to realize that Calvin Johnson can beat your defense each play and dominate the game without making clear adjustments to keep him in check.
All it takes are 2-4 75 yard receving games and his goal of 2000 goes out the window.A paradox.

Your entire argument for why he can do it is because of his physical gifts being superior to Jerry Rice.
hmmmmmmm.........
Once again, you continuously put way too much stock on "athleticism" with your homerism & football analysis.
Just because a guy has rare physical ability doesn't automatically mean it is supposed to be him who is going to shatter records just because athleticism = "talent" in your mind.A paradox.

Hey, isn't it odd that outside of the QB position, the best players in the league almost all happen to be the biggest freaks? It's almost as if there's some type of correlation between athletic ability and performance. Obviously there are other factors, but take a look around at some of the best players in the league.

After a stretch of 5 games where he didn't crack 90 yards.
Calvin Johnson is a freak athlete but you need to come back to reality here.
I know you're calling this a bold prediction, but this is one of those prediction threads where you're not going to come close and then your excuses for why it didn't happen will turn out to be identical to the comments made on the 1st page.
Look at it like this:
If Calvin Johnson doesn't have 2000 receiving yards this season it will be because defenses began double & triple teaming him every play.
Calvin Johnson will not have 2000 receiving yards this season because defenses will begin double & triple teaming him every play.A paradox.

If you look at their schedule they actually face a lot of pretty good or up and coming defenses.
1 Sun September 9 St. Louis Rams
2 Sun September 16 @ San Francisco 49ers
3 Sun September 23 @ Tennessee Titans
4 Sun September 30 Minnesota Vikings
5 Bye Week
6 Sun October 14 @ Philadelphia Eagles
7 Mon October 22 @ Chicago Bears
8 Sun October 28 Seattle Seahawks
9 Sun November 4 @ Jacksonville Jaguars
10 Sun November 11 @ Minnesota Vikings
11 Sun November 18 Green Bay Packers
12 Thu November 22 Houston Texans
13 Sun December 2 Indianapolis Colts
14 Sun December 9 @ Green Bay Packers
15 Sun December 16 @ Arizona Cardinals
16 Sat December 22 Atlanta Falcons
17 Sun December 30 Chicago Bears
Bolded teams either were really good defensively or had very good pass rush and/or corners which would cause problems in the passing game.
Rams will be much improved both in the secondary and their pass rush. Titans are solid. Packers could go either way, they're a year removed from being dominant.
Really the only teams which look like probable domination by the Lions are Jags and Colts. Not saying they won't put up their yards against the good defenses but it certainly won't be an easy road.
