I don't know what the commentators thought they heard but the ref clearly said "Pitt is challenging the call something something that it was a fumble and clear recovery by Pittsburgh."
The ref wasn't saying it was a clear recovery by Pitt, but that the replay needed to show a clear recovery by Pitt. I see that's how this game will go in the books no matter what now though. Super Bowl will be crazy. You know how New England is always vulnerable to the 3/4 options on offense? Matt Ryan is really really good about going to those guys.
