They get you hooked and then you withdrawal if you forget to take them, reinforcing the belief that you need to take them.

Yes. I went off of my meds last year and was totally manic and then crashed hard.
They keep trying to wean me off benzos and Ab. And they are a bitch to get off.
You get horrific withdrawals.
