Anyone else ever have to face the music? Realize you’re not who you once were, or who you even thought you were?

OP didn't even allude to money though.
You can fail your own expectations in other ways...
OP, just use experience gained up to now to make better decisions in the future.
Remember, your actions are always based on the current data at the time - and hindsight is always 20/20.
Don't sweat the small stuff.

Yep. I had ankle surgery earlier this week. I hurt it playing basketball last August. Non-contact peroneal tendon dislocation. After the first time it popped over the tendon wouldn't stay in place, so I went ahead with surgery. I'm 43 and holding up pretty well physically, but even before the injury I'd lost a lot of athleticism. Strength is holding up fine, I just don't have the bounce I used to. Surgery and recovery aren't going to do me any favors there. That's life, I suppose. Still sucks.

I was a pretty good shot back when I played a lot, but I was never a natural shooter and I had to practice a lot to stay sharp. I've played with a few guys that were naturals and could go months without picking up a ball and their shot never left them. That's not me unfortunately. It's all good. Time to work on my floater, I guess.

I'm in my 30's and the tour is just starting for me. I am lifting heavier than I ever have in my 20s, sober, going to get my cardio strong so I can run at least a marathon easily. If guys like david goggins that has multiple knee surgeries can run over 100 miles I should be able to run at least a marathon easily.
Stay hard!
