What are some new hobbies to get into?

Completely doable, but like I said you need to publish frequently and get a following to make any money. Any author making six figures treats it like a job and usually has at least 20 publications, plus spends time doing serious marketing, social media, etc. If you want to see what's possible, check out Chris Fox on Youtube - he's a space opera writer and has about twenty books out plus a few other things but his videos are more about the business side of it all, plus he literally shows his income spreadsheets and how it all breaks down.

Thanks for the YT recommendation. I've been binging on these channels recently. Unfortunatley, I don't have the free time to get involved with stuff like marketing or any business side of it. I'd need to invest some serious reading time into this on top of doing actual writing.

The writers (same as LOST as I understand) leave too many unanswered questions. Thought all the characters were pretty good, especially the Sheriff whom I’ve always liked since OZ, his deputy was the only character that I thought was chit.

I'm diligently following it but I kinda agree that the writers are introducing too many different mysteries that they'll invariably be forced into a really lame fhaggoty answer which turns the entire show into a ball of cringe, or just accept unworkable plot holes and lack of resolution.

I don't consider lifting and exercise to be a hobby, it's just part and parcel of a daily routine like showering or brushing teeth. Dieting and preparing meals is part of that and that's just a daily, basic task. Just an elemental part of life and self-image.

Exercising is a necessary element of just being healthy, IMO, so it doesn't really fall under a hobby for me. And this wasn't an invitation to a pointless squabble of semantics.

Currently, my hobbies include:


1.Surfing.

2.Soccer.

3.Guitar/music (but I need to buy a new guitar). I can def take this further and make a band and produce music with the tech we have available today.

4. Reading and creative writing. Want to one day actually write a planned novel I've been worldbuilding for.

5. Cooking. Would be interested in one day opening a restaurant, or at least, releasing a line of custom made fitness/meal prep meals comprising tasty and satiating meals with macro requirements and calorie limits.

6. Boardgames and tabletop wargaming like Warhammer. Also includes miniature painting and terrain modelling and construction.


What are some new hobbies you could get into? I'm considering getting into art, as in painting on canvases, diorama/nature scene modelling (an outgrowth of terrain modelling for wargaming), homebrewing beer and podcasting.

I've tried hunting and it was very fun, would like to take that up as a constant hobby, but only a part of the country where you can use guns in addition to compound bows and stuff. Fishing goes hand in hand with that, and I'd also like to take survivalism more seriously, like, actually get to the point where I could survive entirely off grid if I had to. Own cabin, sustainable food sources, entertainment, everything.

AI and robotics is another possibility. I anticipate a massive, massive AI explosion soon if we haven't already had one. I already read about AI and cognitive robotics but I'd want to get more practically involved in some sort of development of something like automation technology, smart tech, Large Language Models, or just work on developing machines that can actually, really, think.

Dunno if anyone has mentioned it or not but video editing. I got through these short bursts of editing and rendering cheeky gaming vids in Davinci Resolve. YouTube has endless sources on using effects and even the free version is enough to produce good work.

Thinking of buying the full version. But yeah, it's a low cost hobby to get into if you already have material you want to edit.
