Gutterguards prevent water flow from getting into the gutters. I would remove them all and have someone clean my gutters every couple months.

You still have to get on the roof and remove all of the tree stems and leaves. Then hit it with a power washer.

Wrong. If you have no debri or leafs, a strong storm won't overflow them, especially if the gutter is properly maintained and installed.

Water is fine several feet away from the house. But if water falls directly up against the house, its night night for your foundation. I have a huge crack line in my basement wall where water was getting into from the side of the house. Installing concrete all around the house and filling the meeting points with caulk is a start to keep water out but most houses don't build concrete all around.
I also have a concrete stair where water was falling directly onto and it has cracked away from the stair. Basically water erodes everything.

A bad gutter system will destroy a house in just a few years.

a hurricane cleaned out my gutters. They blew the gutters away also. that is one of the last few things I need to do to full repair the house, install new gutters.

actually not really. no trees close enough for 2nd story roof to have any problems but back of house has a single story roof and i noticed yesterday those were very clogged.
lot of pine needles.
those trees are coming down this yr.

trees next to the house lower life of shingles and could damage foundations with roots so best to remove them.

have seen people with no gutters and drain tile in the ground around foundation and worked well.
however no gutters on low roofs near entry ways = bad time going in or out when raining because the water just dumps on you.

blew all the leaves out of mine with the leaf blower then disconnected the down pipes and flushed them out with soapy water before reconnecting them. feels good man. fukk dying a degenerate clogged guttercel.

I had three trees in my backyard and I absolutely could not keep the gutters clean... So last summer I got TF rid of them. Opened up the backyard for sunlight and now my grass is growing too.

But I always wondered why they don't just MAKE gutters with leaf guards to begin with? I mean seriously... WTF.
