IT positions that used to pay $18-20hr now pay $15. Fuk all that chit.

I told a recruiter $200K. The company was like nope until one of them talked to a former boss that he knew and then they wanted an interview. Ended up going nowhere but I wasn't willing to take a pay cut to go there.

But retail/fastfood/warehouse are the only ones who are actually hiring, and not pretending to be just to cover their internal promotions or whateverthefuk.

This is a return to normal. Paying people 6 figures sight unseen with no degree only happened because of the money printing during the pandemic, and the growth of the tech sector over the past decade.

This honestly doesn't sound that different than when I was looking for my first job a few years ago. No one wants entry level people they have to train, even though it doesn't take that long to train people. It's a catch 22. Companies are really stupid about this stuff. Even when you have experience, they want you to have done exactly what they're hiring for, and will overlook you even if you're a 90% match.

That said, this year in particular is worse. I'm seeing 100+ application submittals to very specialized jobs that used to get 10 to 15 applicants. People are desperate for good jobs.

Elections have consequences sometimes, and I'm willing to bet most of the people in that video voted for Biden, or not at all, so here we all are.

For my industry, I know the exact numbers since it's niche and a small world so I know what other people are making.

6 years ago, the entry level pay was 80K, senior level was 130K.

I was applying for jobs recently and now the senior level positions are paying 120K. Inflation has halved the value of the money yet rather than going up, the wages have gone down, LOL.

To add insult to injury, I couldn't even get those pay cut jobs even if I wanted to. I got to the interview stage for 3 of them but didn't get any of them. I suspect what's going on is that the job market is so bad that people even more experienced than me who were probably making 180K before are forced to take those 120K jobs so I get crowded out. Also Pajeets. 1 of the 3 interviews was all Pajeets and they were rude AF and I suspect they only listed the job because they had some requirement forcing them to but they were only looking to hire another Pajeet.
