And is that okay?
For example, why do you post on the misc? Deep down, you don't post with the intent that no one will read or acknowledge your post. You post hoping others read your input/opinion and/or respond to it. In other words, you post to receive some sort of attention. In other words, you seek attention. In other words, you're an attention-seeker.
I suppose one could differentiate between two types of attention-seeking: Normal and Insecure. Most of the misc falls into the latter category.

Most people crave some sort of attention,. its only natural.
Of course some go to extremes and seem to crave it more than anything. Thats one end of the spectrum.
the other which is almost just as odd is the person who wants to hide from everything and everybody. You know the guy who lives out in the woods and does god knows what all day alone.
The unabomber comes to mind.
Nothing wrong with a nice mix of some attention and some privacy, like a normal person."To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda
