Holy fuk.
Just checked prices for Moab Utah this June so I could do mountain biking. Rooms are like $180-$350 per night on weeknights LMAO. That's with no weekend nights. And June is their "off season" so if you go now "in season" it's way more money.
Moab is just this little chithole town you go to view nature. Not like Vegas or anything.
Who is booking this stuff? Absurd.

The great thing about these high prices is that they make it really easy to say no.
In the past, prices were at a place where they were usually high but still somewhat in the ballpark, so I'd end up paying for them. But nowadays, things are so far out of reality that I just smile and move on quickly.

Nah I ride all summer in Phoenix. The key is pre-sunrise starts (4:30am or so)
Once you get used to it, you can't give it up. Desert sunrise is the most HNNNNnnggggg life experience you can have as an adult.
Just you and the great-horned owls cruising around the grey sunrise light in the dead silence of a sleeping world. Honestly the GOAT.Spoiler alert; you die at the end.

I like having credit cards that give free nights. Two of mine give one free anniversary night per year. Not only that but there are enough offers out there that you can get several nights for free from the sign up bonus.

Im going somewhere in a couple weeks. They wanted nearly 800 bucks for 2 nights. Almost $70 just to have breakfast for one day. So I'm dusting off the old sleeping bag this weekend, showering at planet fitness and bringing a bunch of RTD protein shakes. The fuk they think they are
take care misc, it's been fun

Yeah I'm just gonna stay within a radius of home so I won't ever need to do more than 2 nights away at a time this summer. There's a little chit town in southern AZ with a population of 900 people .... Their week night rates are $180/night before fees lmao. Like ..... What are they selling us here? It's a hick town.
Spoiler alert; you die at the end.

Prices are only fukked because people pay it. Stop renting hotel rooms and they’ll drop prices to keep customers.

Boondock camp
Hit up the hostel type showers. Like $5 a shower. Or like someone else said, go jump in the river but it’s very silty. It would be very refreshing. My wife used to do wildland fire in Moab 10 years ago. I can’t imagine the chit show these down.
Get you some laps on the whole enchilada

Paid over 200 bucks at a holiday inn two weeks ago for one night.
Dude behind the counter said that specific instance was the highest he ever seen for this hotel in the middle of no where.
I did not help our cause as I absolutely paid for it and used it.I only read thread titles and my own posts.

I travel in SE Asia and hotels can be very cheap. I don't understand why anyone would travel domestically in the US for recreation. The overall cost is staggering and the service and ammenities that are provided are grim. Flights are more expensive but the overall holiday winds up being cheaper.
