Sold beater
New owner abandoned it after it broke down so I had to pay the parking citations
Tow company contracted with the city already sold the vehicle
Now I have a 3rd party collection agency calling me saying I owe 2k$ in storage fees
Do I have any legal obligation to this debt ? I’m not in any contract with the tow company
They already auctioned the car and they surely have insurance to Recoup their costs like this so what legal ground do they have to collect money from me ?
Can they sue or put a lien against my license ? If they could collect wouldn’t they have already reported this to the credit bureaus ? Sounds like a scam

Similar **** happened to by brother. He got a new vehicle from a dealership and they took his old beater with 300K miles in very ****ty condition. They told him they were going to scrap it out. Clearly they didn't or the scrapper turned it. Well whoever got the car abandoned it a year later on the highway 2 states away and all the fines were coming to my brother.

if you have proof you sold it, you are 100% good, but its just going to be a hassle to get some of that crap off like the collections.
i remember co-worker (A) sold his old car to another co-worker (B), months later that coworker (B) that bought the car later ended up not showing up to work anymore and the cops came looking for the "owner" which the police info was still the coworker (A), when coworker (A) provided the cops the paperwork showing the sale and whatever other paperwork he had, he was off the hook.. turns out coworker (b) wrecked the car in a hit and run, abandoned the car and is on the run.*** Free Thinker Crew ***
