Only doing peck deck for chest?

Could I build a big chest only doing peck deck or is it necessary to do a pressing movement like a machine press or barbell bench press? As I feel it would be easier to work chest with other muscle groups if no pressing movement

Maybe, but it would take significantly longer to achieve without a compound to back it up as a main movement. Isolations have their place as secondaries, to support what you throw at your body with the compound, but they are not fit to run the show on their own. I would combine it with a press(no higher than 45 degrees) or a dip to really nail that balance.

I don't know anyone who only did peck deck as an exercise for chest.
So I cannot answer your question.
But:
- if you can feel the muscle (blasphemy?!) and have a good form;
- if the machine is good; some machines are crap, some are great;
- if you can progress in weight and reps over time;
- if you do enough volume.
There are chances that your chest will grow.

Try and see!
Probably nobody here can give you an answer because usually people do both presses and flies.

If you are using the building of your former employer to conduct your own business are you paying rent? If not, I am not surprised the manager doesn't like it, would you be happy if someone used your premesis for nothing with no benefit to you?
