Just bought a used 2010 Lexus ES with 37k miles on it.
I had to get the tires rebalanced and roadforced because I was getting alot of vibrations on the road(passenger seat shakes). I also replaced one tire because it couldn't be fixed. Now ride comfort went from a 4 to an 8. However, on the highway, at times the car feels like the tires lost traction for a slight second and is moving on its on(even though its not, it just feels like it). The Lexus mechanic took a look and said only the CV boots needed to be replaced but I think he's bsing just to get more money.
But what do you think this problem could be due to?

The tires on the car were replaced in 2017 and have only 7k miles on them. I believe the owner had an alignment when they replaced the tires because I have the records showing it. Everything is in the green.Originally Posted by keyboardworkout

Replace all tires and get an alignment. Go to Firestone Complete Auto care.

I know this is a troll thread and somehow you're not red anymore... but I'll bite: replacing one tire is bad mkay, if it's the front do both fronts, if it's the rear same thing. Your alignment is out of whack, get it aligned, that is all.

Obvious troll, but will contribute.
Never replace just one tire, this is car basics 101. If you do, make sure you rotate it to the rear. If car still shakes, get an alignment done.

Its fine to replace one tire if the others are fairly new. The car isn't shaking as bad anymore. The problem is that the car feels like its moving on its own for a slight second.Originally Posted by akmerle

Tires losing traction on the highway? Like the engine revs freely or without any acceleration while in Drive? .......cause that would be a transmission issue boyo

I know this is kind of out there but make sure the suspension is tight and there is nothing moving that shouldn't be moving. Really need to find someone who knows what they are doing, they will charge, but they will have an answer and from what it sounds like this could be a safety issue.
