Have had plantains in Jamaica and some other island in the bahamas or west indies. One street vendor was selling bags of them like chips. I preferred the Jamaica style ones, but have never been to Cuba

they make them like that in Panama, jamacia, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and a few other places. I found Cuban ones one of the better cause they weren’t too dry or mushy too but Thai fried plantains are yummy too and wrapped in coconut sesame batter
