I had a 2nd minor case of divirticulitus back in april and had to hit the ER and they had everything on lockdown, was funny because they had 1/2 of the ER dept walled off for covid patients and yet it was completely empty. I was literally the only person in the entire ER. Maybe people were freaked by the media and thought if they go to the ER they will contract covid and die within seconds?

Actually since the beginning it's been well known to be just the opposite. wearing a mask provides a little protection for you, but much more for those around you.
If you don't give a sh*t about others, then why would you be motivated to wear a mask?
I understand that so much of the COVID situation has been politicized to the extent that most people doubt the 'facts' being presented to them about it... but bottom line is wearing a mask does provide some protection for others.
If you want to protect yourself - then there a quite a few other steps you can take. Yes, stay home, wash/disinfect etc. If going out ironically you'd need to wear both a mask and a face shield/eye pro... and so on.
Many on this forum don't care about that either because they don't believe the risk is that great or they are willing to be sick since they aren't in a high risk category and would likely survive - I get it, but it does make me sad because I do care about many in those high risk populations. I work with geriatric Veterans all the time and they're very high risk.

Not wearing a mask in restaurants on a large scale does increase risk over walking to your seat with a mask on before sitting down. If the options are 1) close the restaurants completely (remove that particular risk) 2) no masks - which will certainly lead to at least some disease transmission on a large scale, or 3) mitigate risk by implementing some measures even if they're far from perfect.. which would you choose? Compromise is difficult because no one is happy with the result. But that's the world we live in today.

A stay-at-home advisory will go into effect in Chicago on Monday morning "due to the alarming and ongoing surge in COVID-19 cases," Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced Thursday.

I'm seriously starting to rage at lifting with a mask on. 30 mins into a workout I have a splitting headache, feel dizzy, like I'm suffocating. Luckily nobody has a meltdown yet if you take mask off to drink so I spend like 5 mins in between sets pretending to drink just to get a breath of fresh air. One of these days somebody is going to pass out or have some serious issue.
