I've been playing it a bit and it's been a blast. It was going to have controller support but they removed it because it was too popular. Giving it controller support would cannibalize console COD sales so I'm sure they'l add it in like a month after console COD releases.
Sadly, it's 100% happening and why i stopped caring about the gameMS, Computer Science

Normally I'm a cynical bastard, but I actually have some *potentially* good news for you:
Today, let’s address the basics for the in-game economy coming in Modern Warfare.
- We are introducing a new Battle Pass system, not a loot box system.
- All functional content that has an impact on game balance, such as base weapons and attachments, can be unlocked simply by playing the game.
- The new Battle Pass system will allow players to see the content that they are earning or buying. Battle Passes will launch timed to new, post-launch live seasons, so you can unlock cool new Modern Warfare-themed content that matches each season.
- With the new Battle Pass system, players will be able to earn COD Points by playing the game.
- There will be both a Free Stream and a Premium Stream of content in the Battle Pass System in Modern Warfare. New base weapons will be earned through gameplay, simply by playing Modern Warfare. Functional attachments for base weapons can be unlocked through gameplay as well just like in the game’s Beta.
- The Battle Pass and the In-Game Store will feature a variety of cosmetic content that does not impact game balance.
The Battle Pass System for Modern Warfare will not launch when the game releases on October 25th. Here’s why: First and foremost, we are all focused on making the Day One experience awesome. Second, it’s important to us that everyone who is playing Modern Warfare has the chance to work their way through the new game and unlock all the rewards that are waiting for you. We expect to launch this system for Modern Warfare later this year.
Understandably there are still questions around how the economy will evolve throughout the post-launch, live seasons. We recognize this will take time to fully demonstrate.** Please know we are committed to delivering a fair system guided by the principles we’ve outlined here, and will continue to monitor feedback and player engagement to help us achieve that goal.
Please look for more information on the live seasons and post-release content plans for Modern Warfare throughout the year and beyond.
We are looking forward to playing in just a few days.
Thank you.
**Added emphasis on "evolve," because every precedent of in-game monetization "devolution" is really them devolving into pay-to-win purchases.
The most recent example is Bethesda with Fallout 76, who originally also promised to never institute a pay-to-win system in their game, but that promise aged like milk:
Spoiler!
I'll join mgftp and say that Activision/IW will walk back from this down the line once sales have slowed down, having "earned players trust," because lord knows the majority of gamers are goldfish who will not onlyplaypay along, but justify pay to win mechanics.I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine

When it comes ot anything in life I am always right. SrS. Activision has a clear track record of lying to consumers and implementing pay2win post launch. The fact they are pretty much saying they will implement pay2win after reviews are in here says they want to at least change their image of lying, or the pay2win they plan to implement here will be at another level.
I really wish I could just buy the Single Player of this game only, I don't want to support anything about this game's MP or Activision but the SP looks good from what I've seen.

What they said vs what was datamined from the beta is the whole issue. They said they will have a battlepass/season pass without lootboxes but the datamine found information regarding lootbox exclusive weapons. This is alarming because this is an entirely new game, re-written from the ground up so they can't use the excuse "oh, it's residual files from an older COD.

Haven't played since Advanced Warfare cuz the halo chit turned me off. I'm scared guys, but CoD used to be my chit. I don't know what to do! I'm gonna play some Dragon Quest and meditate.

Might buy it just for the nostalgia. Haven't owned a CoD game since MWF 3, but played a little Black Ops 2.
All those days I spent in college procrastinating on homework and smoking weed and playing CoD all day....good times.ωσяℓ∂ тяανєℓєя ȼяєω

Indeed, and if I have the timeline right (just trying to gauge it by the search-date parameter), they issued this statement after the datamine and the reveal of that PS4 Exclusive Spec Ops mode, all as a pretty obvious ass-covering measure to be sure.
And the thing is that once that code is in the game, the only incentive for them to remove it would be knowing full well that dataminers could call their bluff by checking the official release. Even still, they have the code, so all they need to do is put it back.
I've felt like COD needed separate Singe Player and Multiplayer portions for ages now because the majority of their business via microtransactions is through multiplayer anyway, so it's not as though the SP only folks are going to be tempted into the "allure" of their pay-to-win bullsh*t. This is especially when console players outright require a separate online subscription just to be exploited in the first place, so they aren't even capable of being the target demographic for COD's microtransactions.
COD games are also discounted at an abnormally slow rate and they'll sit at a whole 50% for until hell freezes over or as Activision sees fit, which really takes the piss because these games have a shelf life barely lasting 365 days before the next game decimates the player base and support drops down a fissure at the bottom of a cliff.
The thing with even the best of COD campaigns is that they're still really only worth a rental since the multiplayer is the only reason people keep returning to these games, which Activision is all too aware of with the aforementioned pricing BS. Pretty much why I wound up getting a torrent to check out Infinite Warfare's campaign, and while that game incredibly undeserving of the harsh community backlash that it received out the gate after playing it for myself... it would still be "just a rental" at best. That was Infinity Ward as well, so I'd say that was a pretty good precedent of them defying even low expectations with a setting people (myself included) had little faith in, making it a real shame that Activision goes so far out of the way to lock playing these big budget campaigns behind their overpriced, money-making, multiplayer front.I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine
