Now how confident are we that CDPR won't push the date back so I can schedule time off of work now?? Lmao

Don't even own an Xbox, but I wanted the collector's edition and all the more support to CDPR.
Also, 17 overtime shifts done, 3 more to go until I have $7k for the new gaming laptop I want; I will wait until Jan/Feb 2020 to buy it and just dump whatever the best I can buy is. 0 fcks given to the cost.Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.

Unless you know how to safely liquid metal that thing, enjoy reduced FPS due to thermal throttling of piss. Even then you're going to need to have it sitting on an efficient cooling pad to not melt down playing on intensive specs with $7k worth of hardware.
I had an ASUS ROG STRIX SCAR II with an octa-core i7 and GTX 1070 in it and I had to liquid metal + cooling pad to keep temps at around 90C during the most demanding games.

A GTX 970m was the mobile version of the full 970 with much lower specs so it wouldn't run hot.
These new laptops with full desktop GPUs run MUCH hotter.
By all means, do whatever you want to do. Just make sure to liquid metal it and apply a cooling pad or you're going to sear your thighs and/or palms. And even beyond that you'll have to run your laptop's cooling fans on high/max and it'll sound like a fukking hurricane so you'll be forced to use headphones 24/7 while gaming so you don't off yourself.

I do wear headphones, and use a cooling padso no worries, and I do plan to liquid metal it.
Because I prefer laptops, just always have, I like being able to take it with me, and in 10 months I can just do some more OT and build a desktop too. OT is easy to get, did 10 last month no problem and already have 4 this month.Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.

I'd sooner hook a tower to the TV and use a PS/Xbox controller with the tower. But that's obviously not ideal if you just want the PS5 anyways
This game is gonna require nutty hardware to run at its best. And if you're wanting to play it on a big screen like a TV, you'll definitely want it @ native 4k

I'm on a similar boat
Current PC rig is i5 6600k @ 4.5ghz, GTX 1080 + 16gb ram
Do I purchase for PC and rebuild with a Ryzen 3900x + 2080ti/2180ti + 64gb ram
Do I play on my base PS4 (not pro)
Do I wait for PS5?
I think I'll wait for what hardware is available 2020 but I'll likely just wait until the ps5 since I don't really want to upgrade until there's a 7nm Nvidia gpu + 2nd or 3rd gen RTX.MS, Computer Science

I'm now thinking about piecing a new desktop together slowly and buy whatever the best card is that I can get for ~$500 next year right before the game releases. I'd like to be able to at least play it at 1440 resolution on max settings. Not really in a rush to build it because CP2077 is the single only reason why I even want to build a PC right now.

I'd upgrade the CPU, sell the 1080 and use that money to buy a 2080. Even the RTX 2080, before the new "boosted" ones will be able to play this game at 1440p 60+ I'm CERTAIN of that. I play most brand new games today on max settings at 70+ FPS on my laptop with a GTX 1070 running to my Acer Predator 2k monitor.
And here's a direct comparison to the GTX 1070 vs RTX 2080 (non-Ti):

nah, nvidia releases new gens every 1.5-2 years, so at best the $750 2080 will be the $500 card in another year. the 1k+ card, the 2080ti, won't be 500 for a while longer
https://external-preview.redd.it/OUW...=webp&4eece3dd
actually, that will likely get this game to 1440p, 60 (not 100+ i think though)
I have a 3440x1440@120hz so i'd want to be getting 3440x1440 @>100 for cyberpunk
the issue is i don't want to upgrade until there is a better monitor to upgrade to (5120 x 2160, ~40in, >100hz, g-sync, hdr1000) as well as hardware to power it, which isn't even on the horizon.
I should probably upgrade now, then upgrade in a few years a second time when those monitor specs are available instead of just holding out for one upgrade tbh. I just don't game enough anymore to justify the purchase.
I'll more than likely do exactly what you recommend (except probably go 2080ti) when cyberpunk comes out.Last edited by bartosh; 06-11-2019 at 12:52 PM.

I don't think anything less than Dual RTX 2080Ti's will achieve over even 80 FPS @ 4k res. with a game as dense as Cyberpunk. If the graphics aren't downgraded from gameplay footage we've seen and the city is THAT saturated with NPC's, lights, motion and zero load times it's going to set a whole new benchmark for demand.
A single RTX 2080 Ti will most likely even dip in the high 40's to 50's in those kinds of areas.
2080Ti already performs <60 FPS @ 4k for games like: Ghost Recon Wildlands (avg. 45), Shadow of the Tomb Raider (avg. 55), Final Fantasy 15 (avg. 53)Last edited by Judgment; 06-11-2019 at 05:45 PM.

Well now they ARE doing a PC collector's edition in the US, once I get that pre-ordered I guess I'll cancel the Xbox one.
