I don't think the US administration seems to understand that Russia now has first strike capability and tour is over. We are really challenging them on this? Fuking lol. Chit is gonna heat up now boyos. One false detection, and they will have about 6 mins to decide whether it's time to retaliate or not. RIP
Putin added he will not take the first step to deploy missiles because the agreement has collapsed but ensured he would retaliate - his toughest remarks yet hinting to a potential arms race.
He told Russia's elite: "It's their right to think how they want. But can they count?
"I'm sure they can. Let them count the speed and the range of the weapons systems we are developing.
"Let them count, and then after that take the decisions which could create additional threats for our country...

I'm saying we need to stop this mindless posturing. They have the upper hand in the arms race right now, and doing anything too provocative could lead to a cascade of escalation that will eventually result in them first striking us to prevent a hypothetical future nuclear war. It would be a catastrophic, surgical decapitation and they would force an immediate surrender. This is, obviously, not something that anyone wants. If we keep moving missiles near them, they will also be forced to increase production of hypersonic nuclear weapons. There will then be a 6 min OODA loop between launch and retaliation. 6 mins to decide whether much of the "civilized" world ends or not. That's not a very pretty situation to be in. The risks of a false detection are much higher then, and as I said before, they may rationally conclude nuclear war is inevitable and first strike us to prevent future losses.
Basically, we need to deescalate the situation ASAP, and surrender make whatever provisions necessary to ban the proliferation and production of these weapons. Russia would agree to it too if we moved missiles away. It's not like they want a nuclear war either.

The difference is that Russia can effectively first strike us, and we are provoking them. And the difference is their new weapons make the risks of an accidental war considerably higher, so it is extremely important that we deescalate the situation.
You guys are delusional. Your unconditional faith in our defenses is completely unfounded. And do I need to remind everyone what happened in Japan? We took nuclear action to prevent future casualties and a more costly war. If by their calculations, nuclear war ever becomes inevitable, you can expect them to first strike if they can and cripple our command structure and military.
They are dangerous. They are literally the most dangerous country besides the US on the planet. And actually, given their new tech, it's likely they are the most dangerous country or will be very soon.

jokes on you... there are nuclear submarines scattered on the eastern coast of Russia. Any sort of war-related aggression would result in nuclear warheads smashing that country. I'm not about flexing military might but if you think for a second that the United States isn't ready to defend the land, you're insane.

No. I happen to live here, and it is in my best interests to not see chit escalate. I also don't want there to be a situation where these idiots only have 6 min to respond if they detect an attack. Imagine if this kind of thing:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanislav_Petrov
happened with only 6 mins. It gets much scarier.

Doesn't matter if you say they have "first strike" capability. To what end? Our nukes are distributed around the world via multiple launch sites, not to mention all of them that can be deployed via submarines and aircraft carriers. Russia isn't some terrorist state that is okay with seeing an end-times type event.
