How do you guys stay patient and motivated on prolonged weight cuts?

Just lost 20 lbs in the month of Janaury 2018 and it felt like it was the longest month in my life because i had to constantly micromanage everything i ate. (so i can stay on my deficit)

I'm still motivated, but i still have 30-35 lbs to lose and it will be another 3-4 months of dieting until i achieve those results.

I'm not burned out or anything, but looking ahead, i still have a long way to go to achieve my results.

i've always been impatient all my life so i'm not used to doing something for an extended amount of time since losing weight takes A LOT of time(i had 60 lbs to lose and i'm half way there)

Motivation is the GOAT starting boost for any newbie, but it doesn't last for long so you can't always rely on it, instead you need to build up the discipline to do keep doing this "new" activities as long as possible. When you get used to the new, then it isn't a pain anymore, but a new habit.

If that doesn't work i have a second "trick": When i want to go off schedule without any good excuse aside from "lack of time" or pure lazyness, i remember how misserable i felt for years, and then instantly i do what is need to be done.

20lbs in a month is far too aggressive of a cut, no wonder it seemed long. Eat more and slow it down and it wont feel like a diet AS much. Its been long for you because surely you've been starving the entire time. Eat smart and make the calories count by eating foods that fill you up and aim for 1-2lbs weight loss per week. The only time I feel hungry on my cut is when I am approaching feeding time.

seeing my progress in front of the gym mirror everyday I worked out. luckily my gym has the whole wall covered in mirrors. also having friends, lift buddies, co workers notice your cut also motivates me even more. also the people that consistently lift at the same time everyday at the same gym ( not part of your crew ) go up to you and tell you that you are changing.
Without Proper calorie deficit, there will be no fat loss, plain and simple.

Because whats the opposing option...stay fat...get fatter....end of thread haha Try doing a 7 month cut like I did once. Arrg.....slow
Why do I do this weightlifting thing for the last 34 years with all its ups and downs life has handed me? Because each time I came back stronger. NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.

Remind yourself of daily of why you're doing this~
Don't think of this of a long cut and countdown of how many days you have left, but take it a day at a time.

When someone of the opposite sex hits on you in front of your wife you tend to think that all is well and you continue to train hard and keep the diet in check.

    Celelebrate small victories.

Lot of people noticed my 35lbs weight loss. Have another 10-15 to go before i reevaluate.

Small victory of today (besides going to the gym):
We made hotdogs at home. My wife ate 2 but
I ate my chicken breast with quinoa and tomato to keep my kcal intake lower so i keep cutting.
That was my small victory of today. I did what it takes to get a step closer to my goal.

Tomorrow i have bday party to attend.
Will celebrate my small victory of the day by not eating the junk food that will be served.

Think about how you look now
Think about how you looked before

KNOW that if you overeat frequently you WILL return to how you looked before and all your work will be trashed
KNOW that if you stay in a deficit you WILL continue to look better as your body has no other option but to improve

These are things I tell myself when I want to binge on a couple of deep dish pizzas
