Seated calf raise, straight reps

After 2 nights of horrible sleep and a mentally draining day today, I had zeeeeeeeero interest in doing abs. Will do em tomorrow with upper. I also ran, rode bikes, and skated with my son last night so I'm getting stuff in!
I'm loving my squat machine, even with the deal I got aside, it would have been totally worth it at full retail too. Comes in very handy when I haven't got enough in me to do barbell work. Plus it makes for a better calf raise than the landmine setup!Last edited by StinnerOzz; 10-14-2021 at 03:05 PM.

Eked out another win last night, I felt so drained but got a couple assists. I can't score for **** lately, and I'm not aggressive, but my playmaking is heeling me from being a total bum at least!
Didn't feel like lifting but I'll be off the next 4 days at least, so I had to get it in. Felt good despite feeling lazy and tired.

You're one of 2 people who ever visit my journal, so it's nice to see ya! Hope you're doing well. I know online forums are on the way out these days but for me, logging my journal is part of my lifting and how I always did it. I'd feel weird not having it easily accessible, searchable, referencable, etc. and this format is the way to go.
I don't know what's up, but the goal drought comes and goes once in a while. Once I notice it, it gets in my head and gets worse. Then out of nowhere it just goes away and we're back to normal. I'm definitely due, but as long as my linemates are scoring off my plays it's the same outcome so it's all good.
Tomorrow my boy is going to come watch me play, and I'm going to do everything in my power to do something good for him to see. It's his first time watching me except when he was about 2, at which time he had about 2 minutes worth of interest and 0 clue what was going on. Now that he's playing, he's interested
I'm on the couch now, so let's see how it goes!Lifting. Hockey. Headbanging.

Well, Kaz is the reason I'm back in the journals (with my own journal) AND the reason I'm back to lifting weights, so we'll give him credit for me hanging around. I appreciate a solid workout and especially someone who's using resistance training to support his/her sport.
Just curious how often the scoring drought hits? Once per season? A couple of times per season? I know a lot of athletes who go through the "blues" phase from time to time. Sometimes it's related to the littlest things, like a change in barometric pressure. No joke.
When does your son come to watch you play??

We play year-round, maybe it's once in a year's span that I'll have an off-season (3 months in length) or start slow/catch up after a few games. He came to watch me the other night but we lost and were terrible. That team though, isn't either of my usual teams. They play a lower division and brought me in to be good, but I've sucked because I simply can't figure out "how" to play with the guys at their level. They have no idea how to do what they "should", and so there's a huge gap in our abilities.
That would be fine IF they would also get me the puck, but they also seem to have no desire or ability to pass even when it's the obvious thing to do, so I'm forever getting myself into proper position only to be ignored. I've been on worse teams that use me better because they know how to work around me. Just like when I play w/the highest tier teams, I know my only hope to survive is to be smart, solid, not try to overdo it, and get certain people the puck! Here, if I want to shoot I need to get it myself and go through the entire team because my guys aren't passing no matter how open I'll be...and I'm always getting in the right position for it. They just don't know how to think/see it.
I probably won't play w/them next season as it's not even fun at this point. I'll happily lose all season long as long as we're playing well (and just not good enough), but when it's every man for himself I just don't like it. But my son did enjoy it anyway so I'm happy for that. He also got see me get an assist after falling over and being on my butt, so hopefully that helps teach him to never give up
I had to skip lifting the past 2 days, and I skate tomorrow & Wednesday, so later today will be upper + a little bit for legs. I'll post the workout when done!Lifting. Hockey. Headbanging.

Lost last night but played well. Goalie hurt his leg halfway through and we got beat in the end. Oh well. I ended up staying for the next game, to play w/my old team who needed skaters. That was fun, I scored a bunch, and we blew them out. I'm pretty tired and have things to do during lifting time anyway, so I'll just skip all together instead of trying to cram something in. I guess my next upper day will be Thursday and I'll just do a bit of everything.
edit: got sick with something (hoping not the obvious!) and haven't felt right since Tuesday. Skated Wednesday anyway, played well, felt OK enough with how I changed my play to accommodate feeling like ****, and have just been feeling awful since. No lifting of course, we'll see how this goes.Last edited by StinnerOzz; 12-03-2021 at 02:13 PM.

that is a rough situation to be in with the not-good team that doesn't even know the basics. you answered my question when you said you probably wouldn't even play with them next year. i mean, what's the point? it's not even fun. at least if you guys were playing AS A TEAM and were trying with everything you had and were still losing -- well, at least it wouldn't be so bad. i can completely understand your complaints.
as for your son seeing you get an assist after being on your but -- that's awesome! i'm sure it made him proud. i hope you can get him to more of your GOOD games soon.
really hoping you'll be back to your old self soon. you haven't posted in a long time...sending good healing vibes your way.

Thanks!
It turned out to be COVID after all (no real surprise) and now it's going through the house. I'm on the mend and am ready to lift, but since I've been so busy I gave myself a longer break. I may get to it today/tomorrow though, I am definitely itching for it. This will be my longest layoff in over a decade, easy. That + a lack of food is making me feel like I'm dwindling awayLifting.
