She snuck up on the white walkers. She tried and failed to sneak up on the NK, hence the NK turning around and choking her.
The only issue i have with all of that is that its subversion for the sake of subversion. The writers ghosted Jon Snow of his entire arc. Arya had never even encountered the dead, let alone actually been involved in their plot since season 1, like Jon. It was a very unsatisfying payoff because of that, not HOW she did it.
Aryas arc was her list. The NK was not on it. Not to say she cant kill more people than what her list consists of but when she kills someone that another major characters entire arc is based on dealing with then its very disappointing. GoT has never been about traditional archetypes but it used to be extremely faithful to the characters and to paying off foreshadowing.
I think it would have been more satisfying if, at the very least, Jon had more interaction with the NK instead of just failing to stalk him. If Jon and the NK would have atleast had a 1v1 dual, in which Jon loses and the Arya still kills the NK, then that would have been infinitely better still.
Now we are left with a main villain (Cersei) of which the main character (Jon) has no real narrative connection to. Their arcs have never really connected. Cerseis and Aryas has however, leaving all of use to wonder why the fuk they couldnt have given Jon a satisfying end to his arc when they still had Aryas true moment ahead.

"lets chit all over the show and rush it to end, phuk the fans just get it done so we can get our money"
People accepting this bull**** is why they keep doing chit like this.
People don't want a realistic siege, they want storytelling.
Helms deep, a huge army of Orcs attack
Small force of hero's and army need to defeat many times their number
Tell me why they couldn't have 100k undead attacking 30k human's in a castle and not make that exciting tv???Last edited by Devils; 05-09-2019 at 04:03 AM.

Brah, in all honesty: can you imagine HOW BORING a realistic siege would look like in the GoT setting? If people want accurate depictions of a siege, go watch the History channel.
This is not to absolve them from doing the most stupid mistakes which they certainly did, but there is a sweet-spot between storytelling-convienience and realism. Obviously they didn't hit it, but those who posted pictures of realistic woodwork or siege engines ... c'mon guys.Banging in Hong Kong 2017, Europe Roadtrip 2018, planned: Mt. HELMS DEEP WAS NOT BORING,
We're talking 15 mins of the undead PILING UP ONE BY ONE until they create a hill of bodies and swarm over the wall, or how about them swarming in and then the giant destroying the gate and the undead swarming past to enter the castle. Then you have 50 mins left of show, Can you imagine how much better that would have been than what we got?
Don't tell me sieges would be boring
Dude, because there's something called character motivation. The night king is not there to wage a war and win a kingdom, here is there to destroy man, to get to bran. He is not going to sit and have a conventional siege, he is going to SWARM the castles of men with 100k undead and completely overrun them until he gets bran. Also, for every dead human is another walker.

Sigh, cmon man. I'm talking about story and format, not having to have hundreds of extra's filming on location in full armor, use your brain. They could have shot all the same stuff with the same budget, only have the walkers storm the castle and not outside the walls. In fact it would be cheaper because all you would have is the walls and the courtyard/godswood/crypt

Do you really believe that though? Would having people on the wall jabbing at wights have been more entertaining than seeing that Dothraki charge? Or the Unsullied standing their ground against a literal wave of bodies and maintaining their fearless discipline as everybody withdrew behind them? All of the most amazing shots and fighting took place outside the walls, the shot of Melisandre lighting the trench in the nick of time, the dragons swooping down over the raging battle and blasting everything with dragon fire feet from the fighting was exciting as fuk, you know it was.
None of that would have been possible with the fighting taking place on the walls and in the confined streets of Winterfell. People jabbing their spears into a mass of wights in chokepoints would have been boring as hell. It did happen when all the exciting stuff died down and the walls were breached, the unsullied were jabbing them down while Arya was rolling around offing wights and thats when the pace downshifted.
The reason Helms Deep was great wasn't because they were attacking walls, I'd even argue that it was MORE exciting when the Rohirrim took the fight to the enemy outside the walls and the Haradrim showed up. The shots of the Uruks and Orcs being repelled from the walls and the huge sweeping shots showing the terrifying scale of that battle are what instilled the excitement, thats the expensive part. There is no way GoT could have shown that kind of scale on their budget.Starting weight - 220lbs 23/08/09

arya's MUCH faster, but one hit from the mountain and she would be dead. so i'm thinking she gets injured and the hound steps in and fights
she's got speed and good footing but yeah one hit from the mountain and it's done. but you could say that about anyone lol fighting the mountain.
i think arya COULD potentially defeat the mountain the way oberyn did. she's got the moves for it. oberyn was a twig but he was fast and experienced.
but with mountain in zombie mode, we don't even know if he feels painLast edited by 2RDEYE; 05-09-2019 at 06:48 AM.

I've been looking forward to the hound vs. Mountain round 2 since that jousting scene in season 1 lol. Drogon isn't a threat anymore if the writing stays consistent (ayy lmao).

Is that part aimed at me? because i have honestly no clue wtf you're even talking about lol.
I didn't mention anything about 'someone should die'. I like the fact that tormund went north it makes sense, the only reason they came south was to escape the long night anyway. Now they can go be free folk again away from the politics./

I'm surprised many in here are even capable of disappointment after The Long Night. That climax of the NK's story arc is the disappointment to end all disappointments
At this point I'm riding along for the battles, shock/awe, and some emotional impact associated with those. Anything beyond is just a bonus, and that's probably why I actually enjoyed Episode 4

I got a sense from Theon that he took every opportunity to dump on Jon, him being the only person there he could reliably get away with it without too much reprisal. Maybe it's the books influencing me more than the show, but Theon always came off as a bit of a jerk and a bully.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

He doesn't. Remember when the Sparrows came to get Cersei and that one guy put the spike right through Gregor's breast plate into his chest? Not only does he not feel pain, but I don't think he can die to anything conventional either. Maybe decapitation or whatever, but that spike drove a good 5-6 inches through his plate and into his chest cavity and did nothing.
Maybe a setup for some revenge burning by the hound? He seemed to get over his fear of fire a little when he fought Beric and started learning about the power of the Lord of Light.Starting weight - 220lbs 23/08/09

There's a high amount of mental illness/bandwagon delusion in today's society. This includes current got fans now unfortunately. Even avengers endgame had a plot line that was far superior and even that would be laughed at if it were held to season 1 of Got.too many losers in present society.

I feel like it's time to move on from complaints of ep3 and time to start moving on from complaints about ep4
We have a few type of people in this thread and it's pretty clear who falls into each category
1) upset about it and refusing to let it go
2) upset and accepting it/over it
3) not upset and understanding why people would be upset
4) not upset and not understanding why people are
5) trolls

yeah didn't bother with inside the episode with 4 and wont with 5-6
Normally i'd agree with you buy lady mormont survived a smack from a GIANT so arya would survive a smack from the mountain pretty easily if they want her to
arya gets smacked - just rolls it off - continues fightingMS, Computer Science

I feel like I missed episodes in between episode 3 and 4. The new leader of Dorne (with the last intact army in Westeros) pledges for Dany, might be a big deal? Sansa disliking Dany and starting a massive plot to overthrow her. The advancement of a stinger missiles system on Eurons ships and Kingslanding? How did Yara retake the Iron Islands with no ships or army?
I can gloss over some of the detail if it wasn't vital to the actual plot.
