I just hit a wall with this game. I was getting a bit burned out how wash/rinse/repeat it was getting with the palaces, then real world, then mess around with story stuff you have to just thumb through, then palaces, then real world, etc.
The grind was kinda getting on my nerves until I got stuck in that pyramid level. I got lost and simply couldn't generate enough phucks to figure out how to get out. I turned it off a few days ago. I just played it again, got stuck again, and turned if off without even saving.
I guess it's safe to say that I've grown tired of it. 40 hours in, and I think I'm gonna call it."You can always be thinner... look better"

Sadly, that's been the persona formula since 3. I wish i could say it changes further in but 75 hrs and it still the same, I didn't have a problem with the pyramid palace, but the one after that had a puzzle that took me a good 30 or so mins to complete. I feel like I'm nearing the end (hopefully, as I'm starting to lose interest), so I'm going to see it through.
Usually the story or character's keep me playing jrpg's but this has been the Persona's series weakest imo.

So I'm in the pyramid at level 27, and there's a **** load of red shadows that I can't even **** with right now. Sometimes they end up being this dog-looking floating shadow that has no weaknesses who I pretty much have to run from every time because he destroys me if I try to fight him, especially if there's other shadows with him. Am I underleveled or something?

The dog is Anubis and im thinking hes lv37 and maybe weak to bless but yes, youre a bit low. Either grind some in the earlier parts of the pyramid or explore Mementos. Between the palaces and exploring the new section of mementos each time it opened my levels stayed about where i needed them to be. Also mementos can be a good way to find big upgrades.

WEW LAD ... Temperance at max level is a fuarking god send hnnngh. She stops charging you money and does everything for free, so every night I have her making curry for me (dat back up sp boost in case the SP regen accessory is taking a bit too long to regen) or I get her to massage me which makes mementos and dungeon runs not feel like a day wasted and then doing my laundry lool.
The worst confidants are probably the Reporter and Gun person ... They give useful skill boosts when you hang out with them, but their confidant perks just seem useles ... Especially the reporters, I always ambush my foes so security concerns in Palaces are pretty much non-existent .. Wish they gave us better perks or something so hanging out with her would seem justifiable, i just hang out with her if there's no one important.
Guns also seem kinda useless because it's just used as a means of downing the enemy, but I just got one social link that lets me attack foes with an initial gun damage boost during ambushes so I'm wondering if I buy guns whether the damage dished out increases because I jsut have my level 1 guns and they dont do so much damage but some free initial damage is welcome regardless.
Also just hit the 100 hour mark and just about done with the 6th palace .... Feeling depressed that I'm probably at the latter end of the game now. Why does this game have to be so good
Pro tip - Max out on your proficiency stat if you havnt been doing it .. There's a team mate who absolutely needs it for you to progress to that persons Baton Pass power.
Also make the eternal lock pick tool so that you dont have to keep creating lockpicks.Sig line can't be a novel

making tools is a great way to gain proficiency points. Make different items and you can make about six or so in one go. Rapidly maxed that stat once I figured it out.
Go to all the market places on the map and buy up all the gifts. They don't restock and not having them means missing an opportunity to progress with confidants, which sucks ass, especially with ones that don't pop up as frequently.
Having Rangda is an easy way to beat Thor in the arena if you're having problems. It reflects physical which will one hit ko him.
Did you switch to hard? It's really not that punishing once you get used to it.evil laughter crew

I didnt need to create other tools, didnt really find a use for them .. I just created lockpicks the whole time and read books to get my prof skill up lol .. The gun confidant helped too. I think I've bought all the gifts, but not too sure on which ones to give, some are obvious, some arent.
Thor was pretty reasy, I beat him in one go without too trouble.
Just beat the 6th boss ... Was a bit harder than I expected, I died about two times till I got my act together ...Again I cant emphasise how important buffs and debuffs are lol, I have one persona which has all team/enemy buffs and debuffs and it's helped me tons against bosses ... I did get a bit lucky though, the boss used its one shot kill (used it on me the previous time which killed me) move on me but luckily Makoto came in and took that damage for me hnnnnnnghhh, which then allowed Ryuji and Yusuke to get the kill on her .... First time I've seen the damage substitute move and what a time for it to happen lol <3 Makoto.Sig line can't be a novel

thor does one hit ko's in hard mode. No choice but to have a strategy.
Those other tools are pretty useful, though just not as much. You can ignore all the other methods since you get so many points from it and gain items at the same time. Srsly, a lot of points.
That boss killed me once, then I just made sure to use dekaja and tarunda on it when it powered up.evil laughter crew

Is Hard super annoying or frustrating lol? I feel like I MIGHT use it for new game plus, but I like the normal setting, its easy enough, but also keeps me on my toes if I'm not paying too much attention. I do feel like the game mechanic of your main char being killed leading to a game over is really cheap and just leads to wasted time and ruins the flow.Sig line can't be a novel

It makes you slow down and appreciate the battle system more. You have to focus more on inflicting status effects and the possible flow of combat when exploiting dissimilar weaknesses on the enemy group. It's a good idea to ensure you have suitable personas for differing encounters, so optimization/variation becomes more of a focus.
It's interesting paying attention to enemy personalities and hearing the shyt talk they have to say. Creepy as fucc too.evil laughter crew

About 50 hrs into the game, think I'm on 8/31 or 9/1 (about how much longer do I have?), starting to hit some Stat Blocks with some Confidants. The Priestess Confidant requires Max Charm just after Level 5, dafaq? Also, the Hiero Confidant is a pain in the arse to level up, seems you like you have to bond with them a few times before it actually levels up.
Going to try and get the Strength one up too but that requires lots of money.

Bout to start up a new game+. With stat boosts carrying over, I'm gonna see if I can max everyone's confidant this time. Really want to try and get the best persona's this time before I head into the final dungeon.

Only on the second palace and 15 or so hours in due to being busy with work/school.
Aside from Morgana's annoying voice and white knighting Im really digging the game so far.
What are some good early game personas to shoot for? Matador looks pretty good. Currently using a lvl 13 Obariyon for the debuffs and lucky punch as well as a jack frost.

Hmm, even though some personas look cool as fuk, dont get attached. I'm constantly fusing Persona's and I make sure I have a well balanced team ie - Fire, Nuke, Ice, psy, all the damage types are in my squad regardless of which team I have.
Also important to try and get one persona with a lot of debuffs and buffs just to keep in your team, but since it's early game it doesnt matter too much, .. Just make sure you dont get rid of Lady Anns's Tarunda which cuts down boss attack power.
Sucks that you have to keep changing personas though, i like the design of some and dont wanna change.
I got Makoto's social link upto level 10 ... Her second persona is so disappointing ... The current persona/bike thing was badass.Sig line can't be a novel

Always catch new persona if you see them and once you go up a few levels, fuse them. Think of it like the previous pokemon games.
There hasnt been a reason to grind for me yet, I never run from palace battles and I periodically enter the metaverse to do requests. If you do all thsoe I reckon you should be upto the right levels. Although I may "grinded" a couple levels in the metaverse because I was farming for an item / trying to get more money so there's that lol.Sig line can't be a novel
