I love my GHD, I use it every week. I've been on the fence about a Reverse Hyper. I have been doing bodyweight reverse hypers on the GHD for about a year, and I've had a lot less back pain. Not sure how much sense it makes for me to load up the weight on that movement.

If in the market for a functional trainer, I don't think you can go wrong. Such a nice machine. I'm remain very impressed by it regardless of price and with the Costco deal...mind blown. I assume they see the home gym thing on a fast track trajectory, know what they have in the FTX, and are using it to build their brand name and firm. As a one stop fitness shop it's pretty good and certainly crushes anything like a Bowflex.
Only issue I had was that parts/tools are all included which means it's an allen wrench set as opposed to standard bolts. One of the screws had some metal left in the hole and the allen wrench wouldn't bind. I emailed support - custom email for costco support - and they had a full new set of hardware Fedex'd and delivered next day air to my door. Doesn't get much better though I do prefer standard screws/bolts etc...
I thought about selling mine then and checked. No real price spike on GHDs though certainly commanded full pricing. My Abrams went for $500 pretty quickly but not a ton of interest in a few days outside of someone specifically looking for that model and didn't want to pay full retail. Condition was excellent.
Very hard to simulate a true reverse hyper. Bodyweight gives you the motion but I'd call it 15-20% of real benefit - mine is huge for me and I noticed little from doing bodyweight or trying to simulate it. It's also a large one trick pony. It's amazing for me but not everyone. My advice would be to go with a full sized Rogue unit. Resale may take time but you'll get very solid pricing and that mitigates any risk. I had used RHs before but not consistently. Committed to the Rogue RH-2, used it and it completely rebuilt my back. Love it. It seriously took me a year to feel normal as being compressed and what was constant pain had become my normal so having that not there was "weird" if I had to describe it.
Had a chance to upgrade to a tilt top a reasonably local friend owned (didn't work great for him) that was made by the gent quoted below, sold my Rogue and never looked back. The tilt gives me an even better stretch at the bottom and longer ROM. That said, I'd still be thrilled with an RH-2. You won't know until you try so that was my strategy and for me, I'll die before anyone separates me from my RH.
Aside - do not get the footplate on the Rogue or any single arm unit. It doesn't work unless you are a very specific height and will lock out on you jamming your femurs into your hip sockets. These were originally meant for arms with a joint in the middle not a single straight arm. I had a modification made to mine enabling a joint via mounting plates at the bottom but I rarely use it as the strap does it all. Will likely work it back in for variety next training cycle (also been saying this for a year+).
Flip side is GHD does little for me (used the Rogue and Powerlift models for 10+ years). I don't see much improvement in my squats or pulls especially against good mornings or romanian deads. I prefer a 45 degree hyper to a 90 and my GHD was a large, expensive, situp bench. Expendable piece and got some money back and a lot of freed up space for the FT. Been planning that swap for nearly 4 years just never executed on it.
"Very heavy" is an understatement. I was reminded of this in moving it across the room, inch by inch. 4x3 and 3x3 7 gauge beast. I keep my hundreds on it so they are close to the floor. Now that I have the belt squat I will probably never use the rack mounts but so heavy duty it's fun to just occasionally look at them.Last edited by C123C; 07-29-2021 at 11:38 AM.

I've never seen that lunge machine before. Very interesting.
I couldn't find a video of it in use, but I suppose it's this type of movement:

How do you like it? How does that slide feel?
