It's a base model in white. I plan to get an AP brake kit and coilovers, probably Ohlins. I'm considering red or blue O.Z. wheels too. It will be my first manual transmission car. Somewhatnervous.jpg

I really like the new Mustang but since I'm moving soon to somewhere unknown I need FWD or AWD in case there is snow (hopefully.) The STI is over $10k more, has higher insurance, and I'm more interested in the handling than the motor. Aftermarket brakes and suspension will be better than the factory STI. The base WRX is also 60 lbs lighter than the Premium and Limited model and 120 lbs less than the STI.

I'm going to a Skip Barber school at Road ATL and a track day/school at Palm Beach Int'l Raceway. I'm also going to do Bootl Roos open wheel school. I've driven manuals before but never owned one. I did the Team O'Neal rally school in New Hampshire too. Oh and I drive Rotax karts so I'm not a complete novice behind the wheel.

I always lmfao when someone says they need AWD for snow.
Proper tires >>>> AWD, every day of the week
And I won't speak for the WRX, but for the STI, you *WILL* still need different tires than stock for any appreciable amount of snow.
Even the 700hp Challenger Hellcat is manageable in snow with the proper tires, and if someone still can't maintain control, then they have larger problems to begin with and likely don't belong on the road at all.
Level VII armored Land Cruisers and Hiluxes for the next year. Dunno what I'm buying when I get home.
I can say, however, that although once in a while I miss my Mazdaspeed3, I have never looked back from getting rid of my STI.

Either AWD or FWD. I'll definitely get snow tires. I also looked at a TDI Sportwagen and a Fiesta ST. I can pull a small bike trailer with the Subaru better than the ST and the VW was boring to drive. I had a Mazda 3 sedan that my sister now drives. That car was really fun to drive but I've never driven the MS3.

If I only had one vehicle and wanted to be in a snowy environment regularly I wouldn't cross shop mustangs and wrxs. I do daily a mustang and with all season tires and like 100lbs in the trunk it was drivable on ice.
I do want that 15 mustang gt though.

another thing all these wrx fanboys dont think about is ground clearance. especially when lowered.
AWD even with snow tires don't mean shat on an unplowed road with anything more than 4 inches (if you don't mind fuking up your bumper, even lower otherwise) of snow. brb, my awd and snow tires are perfect for launching me into snow high enough to table top me, and now i'm stuck.

Them feels for armored vehicles, I remember them. Hell, I've driven my S2000 on snow and ice while rednecks in trucks were all over the place. The car is not ideal, but capable. Driver mod = worth every penny.
They did, we just don't get it. It's the Focus RS.United States Marine Corps [Sep. '01 - Mar. '13]

I think the newer WRX's have so much potential that it's kinda hard to justify an STI unless you really need all that extra performance (and an extra gear? maybe?). Before I bought my GTI I was also looking into buying a WRX, but GTI was cheaper and had better interior.
RS is FWD as well.Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit softly.
