I find myself saying "thanks for not killing me" multiple times a ride
Like when the douche at an intersection or stop sign keeps creeping out into the road. He's just a second away from hitting the gas and pulling out in front of you and he kindly decides not to lol

even if you think they see you and stop, don't always believe it. that night on the chopper i saw the ford ranger come up to enter in front of me, grabbed my brakes, swore i saw her look at me and stop, let off the brakes, and at the last possible second, she pulled right out in front of me like trying to kill me. i squeezed around the left side of her while she was at about 45 deg to the lane, smoked my leg between the air cleaner and her bumper, took the bumper off the ranger with my leg. trust no drivers. period.

Inattentional blindness, also known as perceptual blindness, is a psychological lack of attention and is not associated with any vision defects or deficits. It may be further defined as the event in which an individual fails to recognize an unexpected stimulus that is in plain sight.
As frustrating as it is I understand how those things happen. Driving almost becomes a naturally automated process similar to breathing depending on how long you've been driving. It's easy to drone away in your car and drive relatively safely especially if it's a route you take on a regular basis. Think back to when you first started driving. For me that was about 4 years ago so it's still fresh in my memory. I'd be drained by the time I was done practicing. During practice you'd think about every little thing you did. Your speed, using your turn signal etc. After a while that becomes second nature and it's easy to get caught up in it causing inattentional blindness.
More carbon fiber added to the OP you whiney *******s. Still <3 you guys though

neg'd for agism. get him DN.
JFWY. all very true, trans in drive and minds in neutral. it's why two times i bounced of airbags in cars were both cruising along in an automatic, admittedly once on the phone. much safer driving aggressively in a manual tran or bike where paying much more attention.Axe, author of "No Limits - No Regrets"

not sure how it all works. have always heard "it's legal in CA". yet retired THP guy told me TX law does not forbid it, so in theory you could do it. i've done it and seen others do it, but not as common as CA of course. problem is the police still can jack you for reckless driving or illegal passing or whatever BS they want to throw at you if they choose to do so.

Pretty sure it's illegal here in OH. Do it on occasion though. If it's literally bumper to bumper traffic and cars are moving 6 inches every few minutes then I personally see it as worth it. If traffic is moving over 15MPH I don't bother. With that said it sucks riding a high revving bike in stop start traffic. People have unpredictable braking patterns which makes finding that sweet spot in the RPM range a lot harder. Maybe I just need to ride more idk.

Been shopping for cold weather gear to get me through ohio winters. Need gloves and a suit able to stand 30f and 70mph commutes (1hour+). Any recommendations?

kudos on aprilia. my 1 pc alpine stars over underarmor will keep me warm under 40degF. fail points were helmet fog (fixed with pinlock), neck (fixed with neoprene mask low), and hands. tried
all kinds of gloves - never kept hands warm
mittens - kept hands warm, but hard to spread two fingers out to lever

anyone know about starters? Think mine is dead. Started fine at work, filled it up and it would not start. Managed to bump start it in 2nd down a hill near my house.
I get lights, instrumentation, etc but no cranking. Just this low sound and the tach needle moves up a bit.
Hope the warranty will cover this, new starter is $439rumpler of stiltskins

You sure it's not the battery? I had the same issue and I ruled out the battery because the lights and instrument cluster worked fine. Installed a new battery and it fired right up. You can take it to an autoparts store and have it tested for free. I was racking my brain wondering about all the stuff that could possibly be wrong. Sometimes it's as simple as a fuse or battery.

I did that on mine and it didn't help. Had it on the tender for a couple days and full charge green light was on. The battery just didn't have enough juice to start the bike. I was going crazy reading all this chit on forums about what the problem might be. I thought it couldn't be the battery because everything else works. It just ticked and when I hit the starter and everything shut down. Turn the key, lights went on, instrument panel did it's little wake-up dance, hit the starter and everything went dead again. Good luck I hope its just the battery.
