What exactly is it about the ingredient list of your average PWO that lends itself to the advertised sense of mental clarity? Is it merely on account of the stims, or are they essentially integrating nootropics into the formula?
I'd like to experiment with PWO supps for both in and out of the gym, and was wondering if anyone could recommend a stim loaded but creatine free PWO that also has...whatever it is that produces the supposed clarity and focus that comes from taking it.

Theanine on it's own would be counter productive. In conjunction with stims, particularly caffeine, the "sedative" effects of theanine are countered, yet the focus and mental clarity remain. Caffeine and Theanine is actually a very common "nootropic stack", as they balance eachother out nicely. Energy and clarity/focus without the jittery feeling.
